Our Game Days are open to the public and feature all the all-ages “open” (as opposed to “scheduled”) board gaming you can stand–bring your own games, buy games or choose games from Boardwalk’s extensive library. Due to space considerations, don’t block playing areas with games–consider leaving some in the car.
As an all-ages event, please follow Boardwalk’s “watch your language” policy while parents keep their children well-behaved.

This Game Day coincides with the charity Extra Life’s Tabletop Appreciation Weekend! Extra Life is a charity that supports Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through gaming–primarily video gaming but also–you guessed it–tabletop gaming! Individuals and organizations raise funds throughout each calendar year, with an emphasis on Extra Life Day–November 4 this year. As I’ve done in the past, I’m accepting donations to my Extra Life page, plus in-person at the event. All donations support Greenville’s Prisma Health Children’s Hospital.

It’s so hot that when I tried to fry an egg on the sidewalk, the sidewalk stole the egg and sold it on eBay! But you’re forgoing those pricey eggs, and donating to my Extra Life page, because each dollar you donate gets you a bonus drawing ticket (see below)! There’s no limit to the amount of tickets you can receive by donating. Note: if you donate online anonymously, make a note of your name on the donation’s private info so I can award you the bonus tickets (if you like).
We need a theme, though! (While eggs would make a good theme, everyone would just play Wingspan.) So, our theme will be “Extra Life!” The term “extra life” hearkens back to the early days of video games, where your quarter often got you just three measly lives. But score enough points or find that power-up and bam! An additional life! That’s like 12 seconds more gameplay… well, for me it was.
So we’ll acknowledge Extra Life’s video game roots and offer bonus drawing tickets for playing tabletop games based on video games, or with a distinct video game theme! (Note that a board game just having a video game version doesn’t qualify it.) If you play one or more such board games, you get 5 bonus tickets. Simplicity itself!
Since I’m asking for donations, I’ve made sure the prizes (see below) are even more top quality than at other Game Days! Skip those omelets and head to my Extra Life page!

We will hold a drawing for 3+ new games (or game bundles!) at the end of the event (about 4:30pm). You get one (digital) ticket for attending, one for being new to a Game Day or bringing someone new, and 5 tickets if you play a video-game-related tabletop game (see above). Additionally, you get 1 ticket for each dollar donated either prior to or during the event. You must be present and wearing your BGS-provided name tag to be eligible. Winners will select games from the prize pool in the order their names are drawn–maximum one prize per person or household.
Go is also called “Baduk” or “Weiqi.” It’s a game with over 2,000 years of history. It’s a game that rewards creativity, intuition, and deep thinking. It is easy to learn (https://www.learn-go.net/), but difficult to master, offering a lifetime of intellectual stimulation and personal growth. Playing Go can help improve your focus, memory, and problem-solving skills, as well as your ability to anticipate and plan ahead.
