The big North Carolina Mountain State Fair in Asheville is the official “state fair” of the western part of NC. More than 180,000 people attend the 10-day event that celebrates our people, agriculture, art and tradition. It’s fun for all ages, with plenty of exhibits, animals, food, rides and more. The fair is held at the Western North Carolina Agriculture Center, near the Asheville Regional Airport (I-26 East, exit 40). It’s a big place, so wear comfy walking shoes and allow time to see it all. Tip: Bring cash since credit card use is limited.

Gather with your community for a FREE tasty meal, lessons on healthy eating and information on Double Up Food Bucks (a new program through SNAP)! Community Dinners are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 6 – 7:30 pm. FREE childcare provided.

World-famous Carolina Clavier Collection – more than 40 harpsichords and pianos from 1712 to 1857. These were instruments that told the stories of the people who sold, bought, repaired, played, taught on, and listened to these instruments.
Opening September 13! Treasures from the National Music Museum – The Utley Collection of Brass Instruments.
The exhibit will feature selected pieces from one of the world’s finest collections of over 600 historic brass instruments from the Joe and Joella Utley Collection of Spartanburg, SC. In collaboration with the National Music Museum (NMM) in Vermillion, South Dakota, which will soon house the Utley Collection, Dr. Sabine Klaus, curator of the Utley Collection, will be working closely with Tom Strange, Curator and Artistic Director of the Carolina Music Museum to prepare the exhibit. Daily on Tuesday – Saturday 10-5 — Sunday 1-5 pm

The event begins and ends at Bold Rock Cidery in Mills River. Registration begins at 9am and is $25. First riders will go out at 10am with final riders to be out by 12 noon. The ridge will travel along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.
Motorcycles and car clubs are welcome. There will be a free end of ride celebration at Bold Rock from 4 to 6P.M. with live music and prizes. The celebration is open to the public.
All proceeds will enable our Veterans of Valor to fly to Washington, D.C. on a Blue Ridge Honor Flight to visit their memorials and return home with lasting memories.
Established in 2006, Blue Ridge Honor Flight’s mission is to transport America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honor the sacrifices of themselves and their comrades. On exhibit Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m., Rocky Cove Railroad is a G-Scale (garden scale) model train that demonstrates the coming of trains to western North Carolina at the turn of the 20th century. The exhibit is located below the Grand Promenade. Please note, Rocky Cove Railroad will not operate in rainy or wet conditions.

Are you looking for an excuse to knit or crochet for a good cause? Help make baby hats and blankets and adult hats, scarves, and slippers to support at-risk newborns and homeless adults. Your handmade knitwear will keep our neighbors warm. Volunteers with basic skills in knitting or crocheting are welcome. Please bring your own needles or crochet hooks and a pattern.

Join us for Empower Hour, a one-hour program and facility tour where you will experience firsthand the YWCA’s work to bridge gaps in earning power, education, health & wellness and access to childcare.
Empower Hours take place twice a month on the first and third Tuesday at 11:30 am.

Pokémon League is a fun and accessible way for Pokémon fans to get together and have some fun! League events are open to all Pokémon TCG and video game players regardless of experience level or skill. Using your own cards and Pokémon video games, you can play, trade, and even earn cool prizes! The best part is that you can do all this with other Pokémon players who love collecting and playing just as much as you do.
Pokémon League events are a great way to learn game basics and get the feel for Pokémon competitive play before beginning to compete in Pokémon tournaments. In fact, many Pokémon League locations also run Pokémon Championship Series competitions designed for Pokémon fans who are just getting started.
