May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center and over 40 Community Partners are gathering together to provide the Spartanburg Community with Free Resources, Health & Wellness Screenings, Information about Mental Health and many other local services all at your fingertips for face-to-face connections to help you navigate the Resources of Spartanburg with ease. Food trucks & Face Painting PLUS Free Gift Bags while supplies last and Door Prizes. Come make some connections, meet your local providers and gather resources & opportunities to support your community, neighbors, family & yourself. We hope to see you soon. 🌭 Fireforge’s festy food and beverage menu will include house-brewed “Polka Party” Lager and “Cendrowski” Grodziskie Wheat Ale; pork kielbasa from Asheville’s Chop Shop Butchery made with Fireforge beer and served on a bun with sauerkraut and horseradish beer mustard; potato and cheese pierogies from Polish American sister-owned Jaju Pierogi served with housemade sour cream, caramelized onions and chives; kabanos snacking sausage from Upstate Polish Market, house-made borscht (chilled beet soup) as well as other Polish cuisine-inspired sides and sweets!
The Saluda Downtown Foundation is proud to celebrate Saluda’s heritage and art culture at the 20th anniversary of the Saluda Arts Festival. Stretching along historic and charming Main Street, every art media is represented in this popular annual event including paintings, pottery, metal work, woodwork, jewelry, sculptures, fiber, and more. To launch the nationwide Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass initiative, participating Planet Fitness clubs will host FREE open house events on Thursday, May 29, and Thursday, June 5 from 4 to 8 p.m.
These open house events encourage teens (ages 14-19) to prioritize their physical and mental health this summer with free gym access through August 31st. Come out and join Planet Fitness to meet the friendly staff, tour the facility and sign up for High School Summer Pass on-site. These open houses even offer parents special promotions for those interested in jumpstarting their own fitness journey.

Celebrate Land Trust Day, Saturday, June 7, with Mast General Store! Meet representatives from Upstate Forever. It’s that time of the year again and excitement is in the air! Please join us for the Akanimo Cancer Foundation Annual 5K RUN/WALK event created to commemorate Akanimo’s birthday while raising funds to support childhood cancer research.
Akanimo Ekanem, born on June 13, 2007 & was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Desmoplastic Small Round Cell tumor (DSRCT) at 10 years old and battled bravely for 2 years and 2 months until Christmas Day, 2019. This is why we are passionate about childhood cancer research. This year, on what would have been Nimo’s 18th birthday, we call on you to be part of something extraordinary as we gather all over the world in our various communities to participate in this family and community event. We invite you to create a team in your location. You can also give to an individual team or the general team. It’s an event like no other, and we love that you are a part of something this phenomenal!
Every registration to this event will bring us closer to achieving our mission – raising money to support childhood cancer research. Together, we can work towards a world where no child dies of cancer.
