WHO: Upstate Warrior Solution, a community-based, nonprofit organization
serving warriors and their families in the Upstate of South Carolina.
WHAT: Upstate Warrior Solution will be hosting an official groundbreaking for
the Rupert Huse Veteran Center, which will serve as a hub for veteran services
in the Upstate.

Join us as we cover state initiatives and issues that directly impact businesses. This event will focus on the the work of the SC Department of Veterans’ Affairs and is presented by Secretary William Grimsley.Secretary Grimsley Bio:
William Grimsley, after a 33 year career in the US Army and retiring in 2013 as a Major General, would later become the first Secretary of the SC Department of Veterans’ Affairs by unanimous vote in 2020. With extensive officer education, leadership training, and experience in the private sector, Secretary Grimsley, and his team, serve Veterans and their families throughout the state by offering direct assistance and informing state and local leaders on matters pertinent to Veterans. He currently lives with his wife, Jan, in Beaufort, SC where they enjoy boating, kayaking, fishing, and the beach.

In 2019, the Commandant of the Marine Corps issued guidance that will dramatically change how the Marine Corps organizes, trains, and fights going into the future.
LtCol Brian Riordan will give a presentation on Marine Corps Force Design and new warfare concepts evolving from the Corps’ shift to the Pacific and return to its traditional role in maritime operations.
LtCol Riordan also serves as a Marine civilian at the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA. One of its missions is to examine emerging concepts and technology to enhance operational readiness and interoperability in support of the Marine Air Ground Task Force.
The public is cordially invited to join us for this unique opportunity to hear about Marine Corps Force Design and new warfare concepts.

The Navy League is a national civilian non-profit organization whose mission is to support America’s sea services: Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and US-Flagged Merchant Marine. It does this in the Upstate through informational dinner programs, support of sea service personnel and their families, and support of six Upstate high school Navy Junior ROTC units and the Upstate Young Marines youth program.
