The need for blood products as vital parts of life-saving medical procedures and treatments is constant. As summer begins to hit its stride, the need for these blood products in the community significantly increases while blood donor turnout typically drops.
The Blood Connection (TBC), your community blood center which serves local hospitals, wants to make the public aware of an urgent need for blood right now and urges the communities it serves to celebrate this Independence Day by volunteering to donate blood to fellow Americans – their neighbors in need – during TBC’s Freedom Week promotion July 1-4.
According to AAA, an estimated 70.9 million Americans are expected to travel more than 50 miles from their homes during the entire week of July 4th this year. With the increase in travel during the summer months, hospitals in our communities have historically seen an increased volume of trauma cases. This is why TBC is urging any community member who is willing, to come out and donate blood. The local life-saving organization stresses that it is the blood on the shelves – waiting in case of trauma events – that saves lives.
“It is imperative that the local community come forward to support the hospitals in their area during this time of urgent need for blood donations,” said Delisa English, President & CEO of The Blood Connection. “Unlike many of the other products used to treat trauma and other injuries, blood cannot be replaced through lab manufacturing or built on an assembly line. Blood must be donated from volunteer donors, who embody the selflessness that is a staple of our nation.”
TBC will have its donation centers open this entire week including July 4 and will continue hosting mobile blood drives July 1-4. As a thank you for donating during this time, all donors will receive $70 in rewards and an exclusive TBC Freedom Week t-shirt. You’re invited to join Ten at the Top to dive into the world of downtown revitalization with our series that takes you on-site to 10 of the Upstate’s downtowns. Prior to each meeting, the participants will receive a short video to highlight the month’s theme. The group will meet in the designated community for a tour of the downtown, which will include local guests. At the end of each evening, the cohort will eat at a local downtown restaurant and discuss how the theme was applied. Participation is limited to 25 attendees. Each participant is responsible for their transportation and dinner.

We see this as an opportunity to highlight Bullington’s circle of contributors through the sponsorship of a fairy door. The handcrafted doors will have the sponsor’s name, will be opened by guests to reveal a hidden message, and will be given to the sponsors when they are taken down after the summer.

The Greenville Woodworkers Guild is pleased to announce its highly anticipated Semi-Annual Tool Sale and Auction, scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Guild Education Center located at 209 Hollyridge Court, Greenville, SC 29607.
Woodworkers, hobbyists, craftsmen, and DIY enthusiasts alike will have the opportunity to browse a wide selection of new, used, and antique tools and woodworking machinery, as well as a diverse array of clamps, materials, hardware, and supplies, all priced to sell. For those seeking exceptional deals, the Guild’s Lumber Team will offer special selections of turning stock and lumber.
“We’re excited to host our Semi-Annual Tool Sale and Auction, providing a valuable opportunity for both our members and the community,” said Scott Stofan, Tool Sales and Auction Manager. “We’ve curated a diverse selection of tools and equipment, catering to woodworkers of all levels. From seasoned professionals to those just starting their woodworking journey, there’s something for everyone at our sale.”
The sale will commence promptly at 8:30 a.m., with doors opening at 8 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to ensure access to the best deals. The silent auction bidding will conclude at 10:30 a.m., offering attendees a chance to bid on unique items.

Bon Secours Wellness Arena and the Greenville Police Department are teaming up with Greenville Humane Society and Greenville County Animal Care to fill police cruisers with items that will support the best care for pets under each organization’s care. Stop by the Arena on Wednesday, October 16th to drop off donations outside of the GSP International Airport Box Office.
Items needed include: laundry detergent, uncooked rice, hand soap, canned dog food, and canned pâté cat food
