Jaguars need room to roam. Their territory covers expansive areas—which means that deforestation and other human interference hits them hard. From illegal logging to road development to retaliatory killings, these wide-ranging cats face extreme threat levels throughout Central and South America.

But we can change that if we work together to Keep the World Wild. With Earth Day coming up, there’s no better time to take a stand for the wildlife that keep our planet healthy and biodiverse. Today we’re honoring jaguars with a special one-day match: Make your gift now and see your donation doubled up to $5,000. Jaguars need you to take action today. There’s no time to lose.

“Super Shed Sale” at St. John in the Wilderness
Jun 12 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
St. John in the Wilderness

Together in Love Staying Connected Durin

A “Super Shed Sale” will be held Saturday, June 12 from 8am until
4pm at the shed behind the church office and Parish Hall of The Episcopal Church of St.
John in the Wilderness located at 1905 Greenville Highway in Flat Rock.
The fundraiser features home and garden décor, kitchenware, sets of china, office
supplies, sports items, jewelry and art work.
The one day event is sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women of St. John. Due to
COVID-19, The Bazaar of 2020 was an on-line multi-week event with great success,
however not all items were sold.  The “Super Shed Sale” prices are set to clear the shed
for spring cleaning.
All proceeds will support local charities.
"The women of St. John have provided different functions to raise money through the
years to assist those in need. The Super Shed Sale will definitely help in our endeavors.
Thank you so much for helping us help others," said co-organizer Linda Giltner.
Updated COVID-19 restrictions will be in place. Social distancing and mask wearing
are strongly recommended inside the shed.* Plenty of parking is available below the
shed.

Virtual Run for South Carolina Native Trees
Jun 13 @ 5:00 am – 11:00 pm
Online
The Virtual Run for South Carolina Native Trees will act as a public fundraiser to acquire funds for the needed gardening supplies of the project so that 500 trees can be grown and planted principally in Beaufort County. From increased residential/commercial development as well as past hurricanes, coastal South Carolina has been losing many trees. The loss of trees has caused the displacement of animals often leading to road kill, poor air quality, destroyed habitats, and diminished natural beauty. In an effort to restore the lost trees, the Environmental Club at USCB is starting a tree planting initiative to have 500 South Carolina native trees planted by 2022. Some of the coastal native trees we are working with include:
1. Red Maple (Acer rubrum)
2. Redbud (Cercis canadensis)
3. Black Gum (Nyssa sylvatica)
4. Baldcypress (Taxodium distichum)
5. Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana)
The run series will take place during the 10-day stretch from Friday, June 4th – Sunday, June 13th, 2021 and all races are virtual. On Day-1 (June 4th), all races will be set at 4:00 AM so that a race could be started. Available races include two traditional shorter distances (5K and 10K) and two ultramarathon distances (50K and 100M). For the ultramarathon challenges, although having the fastest time will win the event, runs do not need to be completed in one day. It is acceptable to divide miles between days for the specific run event, you can set your pace, and you can choose your favorite route. Runners will record overall time from the moment the race was started until the time the race was finished. The basic rules involve either running, walking, or hiking; however, no biking is allowed. Here are the available distances offered:
5K (3.1 miles)
10K (6.2 miles)
Ultramarathon 50K (31.1 miles)
Ultramarathon 100M (100 miles
