The only rule is to leave the covers at home. This is for original writing only. We want to hear your stories! Are you looking for an excuse to knit or crochet for a good cause? Help make baby hats and blankets and adult hats, scarves, and slippers to support at-risk newborns and homeless adults. Your handmade knitwear will keep our neighbors warm. Volunteers with basic skills in knitting or crocheting are welcome. Please bring your own needles or crochet hooks and a pattern.

Join us a sit down discussion with famed astrophysicist, author, and pop culture sensation Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson for “An Astrophysicist Reads the Newspaper” at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. Neil deGrasse Tyson brings his trademark academic and illuminating prowess to exploring the world’s and Asheville’s current events. Known by the masses from his social media posts about pop culture subjects and movie premises, his effortless blend of topical modern culture and scientific logic have made him a favorite among people of all ages. In recent years, Tyson has brought his captivating personality to shows such as Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, The Big Bang Theory, and cult-favorite Futurama.
Tyson is the fifth head of the world-renowned Hayden Planetarium in New York City and the first occupant of its Frederick P. Rose Directorship. He is also a research associate of the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History. On the lighter side, Tyson was voted “Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive” by People Magazine in 2000.

M. Judson invites you to hear the powerful story of Furman Alum and Greenville resident, Steve Grant, on Tuesday, February 4th at 7:00pm.
Steve’s book, Don’t Forget Me, is a frank discussion of how addiction can affect every aspect of a family’s life, as he opens up about the loss of his two sons.

“After losing both of his sons to drug overdoses, Grant started Chris and Kelly’s HOPE Foundation in Greenville to combat substance abuse and addiction. The foundation provides financial assistance to programs that treat teens and young adults.
Chris and Kelly’s HOPE Foundation has provided financial support to The Family Effect, an organization that works to reduce addiction as a leading cause of family collapse, over the past several years. Grant also served as co-chair on The Family Effect’s board of directors in 2019, and is still an active board member today.”
A portion of all sales during the book launch will be donated to The Family Effect.
