Rocky Cove Railroad Exhibit

On exhibit Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m., Rocky Cove Railroad is a G-Scale (garden scale) model train that demonstrates the coming of trains to western North Carolina at the turn of the 20th century. The exhibit is located below the Grand Promenade. Please note, Rocky Cove Railroad will not operate in rainy or wet conditions.

Skating On The Big Ice

Make plans this fall break to skate on the biggest ice in town!
Skating on the Big Ice, presented by Duke Energy, kicks
off this Monday, October 28 and continues Tuesday, October 29
and Sunday, November 3 from 1pm – 5pm.

All Skating on the Big Ice Sessions will be held from 1pm – 5pm unless otherwise noted. Grab your friends, lace up your skates and shake up your weekly routine at The Well! Bon Secours Wellness Arena offers a friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy ice skating while listening to music and socializing with family and friends. Get a free skate rental when you donate! Bring 5 canned goods or a case of water to assist our STAGE partners, Loaves and Fishes and Habitat for Humanity.

Ice walkers are free and available first come, first served. Free parking is available in the VIP lot off of Church Street. Free ADA parking is available in the loading dock parking lot off of Academy Street.

In collaboration with the National Music Museum (NMM) in Vermillion, South Dakota, which will soon house the Utley Collection, Dr. Sabine Klaus, curator of the Utley Collection, worked closely with Tom Strange, Curator and Artistic Director of the Carolina Music Museum to prepare the exhibit.

Seven Centuries of Keyboard Instruments

Opening November 8, 2019, will be a musical tour like no other—taking the visitor through important keyboard developments, from the early fourteenth century with the ‘Eschequer d’ Anglis’ or English Chekker, to the harpsichord and clavichord, and forward to the eighteenth and nineteenth century piano, and finally electric keyboard instruments of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Visitors will likely be surprised and delighted to see and hear not only instruments known to Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin, but keyboards of a type used by The Animals, Led Zeppelin, and even TV show themes such as Seinfeld!

We are proud to feature world-renowned performers, and Friday, November 8 at 7:30pm we present Fabio Parrini and Jennifer John—world-class musicians who are based right here in Greenville! Steinway Artist, Fabio Parrini, Chair of the Piano Department at NGU, a Fulbright Scholar & Kahn Award winner from Boston University joins violinist Jennifer John, former first violinist of the Ceruti Quartet—the resident quartet at the University of Memphis. Jennifer also served as head of the chamber program at the Governor’s School and now holds the same position at The Fine Arts Center. This evening’s program will feature favorites from Brahms, Mozart, Sarasate… and a couple of surprises, all in the intimate setting that is the Carolina Music Museum. The Junior League of Spartanburg is happy to announce that we now have FIVE available time slots for Cookies with Santa! We have 8:30am, 10:00am, 11:30am, 1:00pm, and 2:30pm.

Tickets are available online only and are $20 which includes one child with one accompanying adult. This event will sell out very soon so act fast!

Fall Harvest Festival

The second Saturday of November is Roper Mountain’s Fall Harvest Festival. This special event will feature unique actives, games, and entertainment for all ages. It is a great opportunity to enjoy experiences similar to those which engage students during the weekday lessons held in the center’s classrooms and labs. The Living History Farm, Harrison Hall of Natural Sciences, Planetarium, Observatory, and Symmes Hall of Science all provide stimulating activities for fun and learning. There is always something new and exciting to see and do, so mark your calendar!

Parking is FREE and in the Main Parking Lot. Buses provide transportation around the mountain continuously
