Enrich the lives of homeless women in Greenville
Hey everyone! We’re Anya Gerber and Natalie Geiger and we would love for you to help us enrich the lives of homeless women in Greenville by building self-care packages at our event the evening of Dec. 4, 2018.
We attend NEXT High School, a local charter school located in Greenville, SC focused on impact. As part of our school, students complete what we call i3 projects. These are individual project ideas based on our interest, inquiry, and creating an impact. Our passion lies in community service for those who need it most, so our group is creating care packages for homeless women.
Self-care is vital in keeping mental and emotional stability whether it be a relaxing bath or a hike on a local trail. By taking the time to stop and be present we are taking care of ourselves. In a world that is fast-paced, we must take time to refresh and reset. This isn’t just mental, but it’s also physical: getting sleep, drinking water, eating well. All of these pieces together create a healthier person.
However, many women in the upstate don’t have access to basic necessities, let alone self-care. With over 1,500 homeless women in Greenville, there is an obvious need for help to supply both basic necessities and self-care. And that’s why we need you!
On December 4, 2018, at 7:00 we would love for you to join us for us for an empowering night of helping us craft self-care packages. We’ll be writing letters to the women, creating hair ties and other DIYs, and enjoying live music as well as refreshments. Each ticket covers the cost of a box so you personally will be responsible for self-care of a woman in the upstate. Each box is going to include items like hair ties, deodorant, socks, water bottles, and plenty of other necessities as well as items to relax and refresh.
Not only would your ticket help the women of Greenville, but you would also receive a gift from Chick-fil-a or M. Judson Booksellers and be entered to win prizes from other businesses.
With all of that said, please join us in helping the women of Greenville get the care they need by coming to our event.
Purchase your ticket in the link..

Reclaimed Creations is a unique sculpture exhibit created by renowned artist Sayaka Ganz. Utilizing reclaimed plastic objects, such as discarded utensils, Ganz creates amazing sculptures that visually appear unified at a distance, but are in fact separated when examined up close. Described as using a “3D impressionistic” style, Ganz’s exhibit includes installations of animals in motion, which are in rich in color and energy, to create an illusion of form.
About the Artist
Born in Yokohama, Japan, Sayaka Ganz grew up living in Japan, Brazil and Hong Kong. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. A lecturer and teacher, Ganz’s work has been displayed at various institutions around the globe, including the Hermann Geiger Foundation in Cecina, Italy, the Isle Gallery in Isle of Man, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.
My work is about perceiving harmony, even in situations that appear chaotic from the inside. When observing my sculptures up close, one might see gaps, holes and items being held on only by small points; step away, however, and the sculptures reveal the harmony created when the objects are aligned to the same general (but not identical) direction. Similarly, it is important to gain perspective by stepping back from current problems and look at the larger picture. Then one can perceive the beauty and patterns that exist.”
