Many things have changed this year, but one thing that hasn’t is United Way of the Piedmont’s commitment to providing school supplies to children who need them most.
16,214 children in PK-5 Spartanburg County live in poverty. Even during a “normal” year, purchasing a full list of school supplies can be out of reach for their families.
Students need our support now more than ever.

We are committed to providing students with backpacks filled with the school supplies they need to be ready for success.
Your donation will make an impact on a child’s life right here in our community. Packed backpacks are given directly to school social workers who provide students with the greatest need with the supplies you provided. Supplies go to social workers in all seven Spartanburg County School Districts.

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits hockey team has partnered with Greater Greenville Youth Hockey (GGHA) to host “Cans for Kids,” a nonperishable food drive to benefit Loaves & Fishes. Donations of both nonperishable foods and monetary gifts will be collected on Friday July 17th and Saturday July 18th from 11:00am – 3:00pm at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Volunteers will collect these items at a drive-through drop off site to ensure social distancing.
All donors will receive a ticket voucher for a 2020-2021 Swamp Rabbits regular season game. Additionally, Bon Secours Wellness Arena will provide exclusive ice time for youth donors, at a later date to be determined.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Greenville Literacy Association will hold its 2020 Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale online.
The event website, glabooksale.com, is currently live for visitors, but books won’t be accessible until Aug. 1 at 6 a.m. The public can however purchase a $30 ticket to the Greenville Literacy Association’s virtual preview party and gain early access to the website starting at 6 p.m. on July 31.
All funds from the book sale will directly benefit Greenville Literacy Association’s mission to increase literacy and employability in Greenville residents. For more information, visit glabooksale.com or greenvilleliteracy.org.
