Yet what does it mean for those that live there? Join us as we follow polar bears, walruses, seals and penguins as they find their icy Edens in peril. Brought to you by the speakers, adventurers and explorers that have joined the tradition of the polar explorer and returned to tell us why this frozen frontier is vital for our planet.

The YWCA Racial Justice Workshop is open to our entire YWCA Asheville community – including our staff, volunteers, board, donors, program participants, Fitness Center and community members. This 90-minute workshop will take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 am and will be facilitated by Gerry Leonard, Racial Justice & Outreach Specialist and Lexus Walker, Tzedek Social Justice Fellow.

Join Steve Pettis, Henderson County Commercial and Consumer Horticulture Agent and host of the Gardening in the Mountains Radio Show and Podcast and learn to identify these early spring wonders, understand their unique lifecycles, and explore their roles in the ecosystem.
Gather with your community for a FREE tasty meal, lessons on healthy eating and information on Double Up Food Bucks (a new program through SNAP)! Community Dinners are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 6 – 7:30 pm. FREE childcare provided.

On Saturday, April 12th, cyclists can choose from 33, 43, 65, or 100-mile routes that wind through serene marshlands, lush woodlands, and the tranquil roads of the Francis Marion National Forest. Riders will enjoy a supportive experience with pace groups and a celebratory post-ride lunch to wrap up the day. The adventure continues on Sunday, April 13th, with two bonus ride options: a 42-mile scenic road ride (with a 27-mile option) that tours downtown Charleston, crosses the Ravenel Bridge, and showcases picturesque coastal views, or a 30-mile gravel ride through the rugged beauty of Francis Marion National Forest. Please note that Sunday rides are unsupported, so participants should bring water and snacks.
Proceeds from Ride the Lowcountry 2025 support local cycling advocacy organizations, Charleston Moves and the Palmetto Cycling Coalition, as well as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in their fight to end MS. Special thanks to our presenting sponsor, Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just beginning your journey, this event promises a weekend of camaraderie, challenge, and purpose.

Empower Hours take place twice a month on the first and third Tuesday at 11:30 am.

Are you looking for an excuse to knit or crochet for a good cause? Help make baby hats and blankets and adult hats, scarves, and slippers to support at-risk newborns and homeless adults. Your handmade knitwear will keep our neighbors warm. Volunteers with basic skills in knitting or crocheting are welcome. Please bring your own needles or crochet hooks and a pattern.

Beginner’s workshop lesson at 7:30 P.M., then 8-11 P.M. Contra Dance with Country Waltzing at the break and the final dance. This is a partner dance but it’s not necessary to come with a partner. We have different live bands and callers.
