The Music of Queen is coming to a new venue perfect for summertime jamming–West Henderson High School’s athletic stadium, Johnson Field. 

Flat Rock opened its 2020 season with The Music of Queen, the most successful Music on the Rock concert the theatre has produced.  When the opportunity to do something special for one night only in August presented itself, The Music of Queen was a no-brainer.

Returning to perform the music of this legendary band are Flat Rock favorites Dustin Brayley, Nat Zegree, Eric Anthony, Ryan Guerra, Paul Babelay, and Ryan Dunn. 

With food trucks, corn-hole, jumbo screens, and plenty of seating for friends and family, you can rock out to the inspiring anthems that never get old.

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind live music event in our very own Henderson County! Tickets on sale Tuesday, June 15.

Take a trip down memory lane to that golden era of Big Band hits from the 30’s and 40’s. Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and more of your favorites will be featured in this live concert-style show. Last year we went virtual, and this year we are bringing it to you LIVE! Join us April 7 through September 29 for Greenville Heritage Sound Check presented by Pepsi Zero Sugar, a concert series located on the Reedy River. Each Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. will feature live music on the Peace Center Amphitheatre stage. Grab your friends, reserve a T-mobile Safe Space Pod and we will see you on the river! Beverage delivery service will also be available.

Enjoy the concert in your own private viewing area in our T-Mobile Safe Space Pods.

• Pods are $10 each and includes admission for up to 4 people in a sectioned off 6′ x 6′ space.
• Admission is via pod purchase only.
• Online reservations are highly encouraged to guarantee your spot. Pods will be sold at the door if space is available.
• Online reservations for the upcoming week will open on Thursday at 10:00 am.
• Gates open at 6:00 pm. Band starts at 6:30 pm.
• Tickets are non-refundable and are required for admission to the event.
• Tickets are only good for the date & specific pod purchased. Tickets are not transferable to future event dates.
• Tickets will go on sale every Thursday at 10:00am for the next week’s concert.

ArborEvenings runs Thursdays and most Fridays through October 1, 2021, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. ArborEvenings are not scheduled on the following Fridays: July 9, August 6, September 3 and 10.

There is no additional cost to attend ArborEvenings beyond our standard parking fee. As always, Arboretum Society members and their accompanying guests can enter for FREE (guests must be in member vehicles to receive free entry). Proceeds from ArborEvenings help support the The North Carolina Arboretum Society and further advance the Arboretum’s mission.

Although the Bent Creek Bistro will not be open during the event, we are pleased to share that they will be offering their delicious dining options at ArborEvenings via pre-order this year! Simply place your online order — including alcoholic beverages — up until 11 a.m. on the date you plan to attend, then pick up your order at the Baker Information Desk between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. (In the event of rain cancellation, pre-orders will be fully refunded.)

Guests are welcome to bring in outside food and non-alcoholic beverages. However, outside alcohol is strictly prohibited.

• Restroom access will be available during ArborEvenings inside the Baker Visitor Center.
• Guests are invited to explore A Life in the Wild, a breathtaking exhibition of photographs from Thomas D. Mangelsen; however, food and drink are not permitted inside the Exhibit Hall.
• Leashed dogs are welcome at ArborEvenings, but are not permitted inside of  buildings.
• To protect our lawn, blankets are not permitted at the event; however, guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs to set up in front of the musicians.
• Due to existing event bookings, ArborEvenings will not take place on the following Fridays: July 9, August 6 and September 3 and 10.

With a kaleidoscope of song, dance and poetry, Rock Opera confronts our recent
collective experience having undergone a national pandemic, a re-emergence of
racial reckoning and cultural chaos. Personal perspectives from the cast mix with

Gaye, Foreigner, Jesus Christ Superstar, Rent, Carmen and Tosca. Celebrate the
resilience of the human spirit in this truly epic musical performance!

Although Tommy Emmanuel is an instrumentalist, he approaches the guitar much more like a vocalist, singing melodies through the strings.

There are two qualities that define the Australian artist’s greatness. The first, predictably, is his extraordinary guitar playing. Considered by those in the know to be among this planet’s greatest guitarists, it would take three musicians or more to do what Tommy does solo. Who else can lay down the rhythm part of “Day Tripper” while also digging into the riff and singing the melody all at once on just one acoustic guitar?

Which brings us to the other aspect of his music, and without which the first might not be as powerful or as infectiously appealing: the joy. Yes, joy. It’s one thing to play these multi-dimensional arrangements flawlessly on an acoustic guitar, but to do it with that with authentic, unbridled delight is an irresistible invitation to feel his music as deeply as he does.

The music series will take place every Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at NOMA Square, beginning July 9 and ending September 24. Throughout the season, attendees can enjoy a wide range of local entertainment, including rock-n-roll, pop, R&B and jazz.
