The South Carolina Native Plant Society’s Fall Native Plant Sale offers over 4,000 native plants representing nearly 200 species October 9-11, 2025, with early access for members on October 8.
This online-only sale features shade-loving woodland species, sun-loving meadow plants, and everything needed for rain gardens and pollinator habitats — all requiring less water and maintenance while supporting local wildlife. Shop early as popular species sell out quickly.
All orders must be placed online and picked up at the Upstate Native Nursery, 180 Lakewood Drive, Greenville. The sale coincides with South Carolina Native Plant Week and supports the Society’s conservation initiatives throughout the Upstate.

The Archaeology Society of South Carolina (ASSC) invites you to join us for our annual Fall Field Day at the Cayce Historical Museum in Cayce, SC. Come down to the museum to see real archaeological excavation on a nineteenth century plantation site. If you have curios or artifacts you want to learn more about, bring them with you! We have expert precontact and historic archaeologists available to answer questions. Small boats from the museum’s collections will on view. We are also going to show demonstrations of Ground Penetrating Radar technology and a new archaeology video game. Tour the museum and learn more about 12,000 years of South Carolina culture. The ASSC is also hosting a fundraiser auction and will be selling BBQ plates until they run out.
Saturday October 11 is Dog Adoption Day at Hatcher Garden’s Strutt Your Mutt event.

The Pony Partner Roundup on October 19, 2025, at Fox on the Run Farm. This signature fundraiser features family-friendly fun, including games, live music, inflatables, food, selfie stations, a silent auction, a pie-eating contest, and even a lighthearted fundraiser where community members raise funds while being “stalled” with our mini horses. Something extraordinary is coming to Asheville this winter! The North Carolina Arboretum and Explore Asheville are elated to announce the arrival of Trolls: A Field Study. Visiting on their first North American excursion, these twelve interactive troll sculptures will explore the Arboretum, embarking on a curious journey to learn about humankind.
Produced by Imagine in collaboration with Danish artist Thomas Dambo, these friendly and fanciful sculptures evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue as they study our small, intricate and inventive ways of life in Western North Carolina. Standing seven to nine feet tall and lovingly described by the artist as “Baby Trolls”, the creatures are crafted from materials like fallen branches, wooden pallets and twigs.
Through their observations, the trolls reveal a fresh perspective on what makes us human, sparking curiosity and laughter in visitors of all ages.
Only cost is the parking fee. No other admission fees.
