The YWCA Racial Justice Workshop is open to our entire YWCA Asheville community – including our staff, volunteers, board, donors, program participants, Fitness Center and community members. This 90-minute workshop will take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 am and will be facilitated by Gerry Leonard, Racial Justice & Outreach Specialist and Lexus Walker, Tzedek Social Justice Fellow.

We need volunteers to pack nearly 1,500 meals every Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 10:00 a.m. The food is prepared by our kitchen staff and set-up in an assembly line for packaging.
PET FOOD PACKAGING
Meals on Wheels also strives to help the pets of the homebound in Greenville. We need volunteers to package dog and cat food for monthly distribution and to organize pet food drives.
MEAL DISTRIBUTION
Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 10:30 until 12 pm to greet in-coming volunteers, hand out route sheets and answer questions.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Our annual events are great fundraising opportunities. They’re also a lot of fun, whether you get involved as a participant, committee member, volunteer or corporate sponsor.

Perfect for oddity lovers and Halloween + Christmas enthusiasts, this fiendish affair beckons dark spirits, midnight wanderers, witchy souls, and the eternally restless. It’s a dead man’s party!
Established in May 2023, HauntFest has risen as a leading horror festival business, captivating audiences with its spine-chilling spectacles and atmosphere. From bewitching entertainment to macabre vendors and haunted attractions, HauntFest offers an unparalleled immersion into the realm of terror. Experience spooktacular live performances, encounter creatures both mythical and monstrous, and traverse unhallowed grounds where every corner hides a new fun and exciting horror. Unlike other Halloween conventions, HauntFest prides itself in highlighting the arts and music through a weekend celebration, where patrons can wear their monster skins and join in on the dead man’s party. Your handmade knitwear will keep our neighbors warm. Volunteers with basic skills in knitting or crocheting are welcome. Please bring your own needles or crochet hooks and a pattern.

We need your help controlling invasive species at Anderson’s beloved Rocky River Nature Park!
About the park: This free and publicly accessible park is a 131.9-acre property that was protected in 2016 in partnership with Anderson University. Throughout the park, visitors enjoy a matrix of bottomland forest and beaver-maintained wetlands which hosts over 168 species of passerine and migratory birds throughout the year. A population of the rare Swamp Rabbit (Sylvilagus palustris) is also known to inhabit the floodplain forests of the park.
Workday activities: This year marks the second year of active habitat restoration at the park. The primary activity of this workday will involve removing invasive species such as invasive olive and Chinese Privet to enhance foraging and nesting areas for native wildlife and migratory species.
What to wear and bring: Participants should wear long pants, close-toed shoes and gear that you don’t mind getting dirty in. We will provide tools and gloves, but volunteers are more than welcome to bring their favorite gardening gloves, loppers or saws!
