Greenlink Buses Fare Free Day

Greenlink Buses

Greenville Connects, a local nonprofit dedicated to enhancing public
transit, is thrilled to announce their first Fare Free Day on Greenlink buses for 2024. On
Thursday, May 2nd, passengers riding fixed-route Greenlink buses can enjoy the convenience
of fare-free travel all day long. Passengers can also make advanced reservations for May 2nd
through the Greenville Area Paratransit (GAP) service and enjoy the same fare-free benefit.
This exciting initiative aims to encourage residents and visitors of Greenville to try out transit for
the day. By eliminating the fare for the day, Greenville Connects hopes to make public transit
more accessible to all, fostering community engagement and encouraging individuals to
experience the benefits of riding the bus.

Whether you’re commuting to work or exploring downtown Greenville, Greenlink buses offer a
reliable, cost-free transportation solution on May 2nd. Fixed-route services will operate on their
regular schedules, providing convenient connections throughout the city. For more information

The League of Women Voters and Greenville Connects are hosting Ride and
Register, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at registering transit riders to vote during their daily
commute.
Trained volunteers will be stationed on Greenlink buses and at the downtown transit hub on May
2nd from 8:00-9:30 am and 5:00-6:30 pm, seamlessly integrating the voter registration process
into people’s everyday travels. Participants are encouraged to bring their social security number
for registration. If riders would like to register online, they can also bring their driver’s license.
The League and Greenville Connects hope to assist voters who want to register or update their
registration if they have moved. Friday, May 10, 2024 is the deadline to register or update your
registration in South Carolina by paper to be able to vote in the Statewide Primaries.

Outdoor concerts bringing live music to downtown Greenville kick off this week.

Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive and Greenville Heritage Main Street Fridays will return to NOMA Square for the 2024 season with a lineup of new and returning artists.

Downtown Alive starts Thursday, March 14 with performances by Linda Faye’s Sound. Benefiting the Metropolitan Arts Council, the weekly music series runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday until late August.

With eight language options available our small classes provide an intimate learning environment where you can progress at your own pace. Immerse yourself in the richness of cultural diversity while acquiring valuable language skills that will open doors to new opportunities.
This 15-week semester beginning January 22nd offers Finnish French Spanish Russian etc. Whether you want to learn a language for work, expand your resume, play, travel, or stimulate your brain, UI has a class for you.
Classes are conducted in an informal relaxed atmosphere and are limited to no more than ten people. There are two types of classes: Regular classes meet once a week for 75 minutes costing $180 per semester and Intensive classes meet twice a week for 90 minutes each costing $480 per semester. Annual memberships are required for all students and cost from $75 to $100.
Classes are held both online and in person at Upstate International 9 S. Memminger Street Greenville SC.

MEAL PACKAGING

We need volunteers to pack nearly 1,500 meals every Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 10:00 a.m. The food is prepared by our kitchen staff and set-up in an assembly line for packaging.

Pet Food Packaging

PET FOOD PACKAGING

Meals on Wheels also strives to help the pets of the homebound in Greenville. We need volunteers to package dog and cat food for monthly distribution and to organize pet food drives.

Make Greenville Center for Creative Arts (GCCA) your first stop on First Friday! Located in the historic Brandon Mill complex in the creative arts district of West Greenville, GCCA is a perfect place to begin the Metropolitan Arts Council’s monthly art walk.

The Art Center is open for extended hours, 6pm to 9pm, on the first Friday of every month for First Friday activities. In addition to viewing multiple exhibitions from both locally and nationally-recognized artists, at GCCA you’ll have the opportunity to meet the resident working artists, see their studio spaces and works in progress, and learn more about their personal style and artistic process.

The mission of GCCA is to enrich the cultural fabric of the community through visual arts promotion, education, and inspiration. Founded by a dedicated group of artists, teachers, and community leaders, the Art Center offers programs for people of all ages, backgrounds, and economic circumstances.

Greenville’s Downtown Trolley (Route 903) provides visitors to the downtown area easy and free transport to the West Greenville area from July through September, every Thursday and Friday, 6pm to 11pm, and Saturdays, 5:30pm to 11pm. TD Saturday Market

On Saturday mornings from the beginning of May until the end of October, two blocks of downtown Greenville’s Main Street are transformed into a bustling farmers’ market. The market features over 75 vendors selling the season’s freshest produce and the area’s most original and high quality crafts.  Each week thousands of people flock to the TD Saturday Market for locally-sourced products where all food must be grown or produced within 100 miles of Greenville and crafters are highly-encouraged to use locally-sourced supplies.

There is something undeniably special about Greenville’s TD Saturday Market. We invite you to join us Saturday mornings to experience it for yourself!
