Symmetry Financial Group, AdventHealth and Native Kitchen present a very special evening to benefit Our VOICE, Inc. Tarana Burke started a revolution in 2006 when she first used the phrase Me Too in reference to her own sexual assault. More than 10 years later the Me Too Movement transformed into the viral #MeToo phenomenon. Tarana was named a 2017 Time Magazine Person of the Year for her role in breaking the silence around sexual violence. Tarana’s message is clear: together we are creating a movement that is actively shaping and changing our cultural norms now and for future generations to come.
Winter can be the most beautiful time of the year at Chimney Rock. Leafless trees make for expansive views of Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge. The sky is clear; you’re likely to find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the peacefulness. You may even see a critter scamper by you in the forest. Capture that special moment or scene on your camera, enter it in our Winter Wonders Photo Contest and tell us about it. We’ll use the winning entries on our website and Facebook album, and you’ll win some fun prizes. Photos must be taken within the Chimney Rock section of the Park.
Cost: No additional cost to enter.

These sculptures are a collection of fragments, contradictions, and run-on thoughts about the physical world. They emerge from a fascination with systems of the built environment and objects that occupy our space. When Webster collects found things, he often lives with them for years before incorporating them into a sculpture, adding something to their long-established history. A faded, peeled-up yellow road line is the material embodiment of the syntax that organizes movement, but can we also imagine what could exist beneath the road line, and allow an absurd moment to unravel the margins of the system?

Raise your voice and fight Duke’s fee hike! Duke Energy wants to triple the hidden, mandatory fee on your bill so you’ll owe at least $336 per year before even flipping your lights on. That’s the highest fee in the nation of any similar utility, and means you would pay more for using less energy.
But it’s not a done deal yet. Come to this public hearing to raise your voice and help make sure that the fee hike is defeated.
Learn more details and see how much YOUR bill would increase here: https://cleanenergy.org/blog/how-much-would-your-bill-increase-if-dukes-fee-hike-is-approved/
