Immigration has become a wedge issue in the United States, stirring fear, anxiety, and anger among Americans on both sides of the issue. Our three-part series in partnership with the OLLI- Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Furman will examine current and recent immigration enforcement policies and their impact, the effect of immigration on jobs and our economy, and what the changing demographics of the United States mean for our politics and elections.

The Biltmore Estate has been planning the largest exhibition in its historic gardens for almost a decade. And finally, last week, Chihuly at Biltmore opened with a mega installation of glass sculptures from the famous artist Dale Chihuly. Tens of thousands of glass pieces from all around the world reside in 14 locations around the Estate (which is the very first large-scale N.C. Chihuly installation).
The exhibition is up from now until Oct. 7th, free admission with a Biltmore day pass (and free for annual pass holders). Chihuly at Nightis a special, ongoing event where the glass sculptures are lit up, plus live music in the gardens + a wine bar. Tickets are $37.50 for kids + range from $65 – 75 for adults ($10 discount for pass holders).
Three new works were blown just for Biltmore, and 6 new compositions were put together.

Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Trainer Certification Course
The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (pronounced Ol-VAY-us) is a comprehensive approach that includes schoolwide, classroom, individual, and community components. This program is focused on long-term change that creates a safe and positive school climate. It is designed and evaluated for use in K-12 schools and incorporates what researchers and practitioners have identified as best practices in bullying prevention and intervention.
The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program’s (OBPP) goals are to reduce and prevent bullying problems among students and to improve peer relations at school. The Olweus program has been implemented in more than a dozen countries around the world, and in thousands of schools in the United States.
How do I apply for a Trainer Certification Course?
Currently we have over 2000 individuals who have participated in the OBPP Trainer-Consultant Certification Course (TCC) in the United States. TCCs are offered for qualified individuals who are interested in becoming a certified trainer in the program. Courses are conducted by qualified, highly experienced members of the Olweus leadership team.
