NC Arboretum Hiking Trails

Located within the wildly-popular and botanically beautiful Southern Appalachian Mountains, The North Carolina Arboretum offers more than 10 miles of hiking trails that connect to many other area attractions such as Lake Powhatan, the Pisgah National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Visitors of all ages and abilities can enjoy their hiking experience at the Arboretum as trail options include easy, moderate, and difficult challenge levels. All trails are dog-friendly and visitors are asked to adhere to the proper waste disposing procedures for pets.

2024 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament

The Southeastern Conference unveiled the tournament schedule for the 2024 Women’s Basketball Tournament in anticipation of the on-sale of reserved ticket books scheduled for Thursday, November 2.

The SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament returns to Greenville, S.C, March 6-10. This is the seventh trip to Greenville for the tournament. The city previously hosted the event in 2005, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023.

A reserved ticket book for the tournament, to be held at Bon Secours Wellness Arena is $130. A ticket book contains seven tickets, one for each session, which allows one person to attend all 13 games. All ticket prices are subject to additional taxes and fees and can be purchased here. There will also be tournament hospitality options available starting at $350.

Single session tickets, if available, will go on sale in February.

Camp Love-A-Pet is a one-week day camp for children entering grades 5-10. It is held from 8:00AM – 12:00PM Monday – Friday. Some days are slightly longer depending on field trips.

MINI WEEK SESSION CLASS REGISTRATION

A shorter week-long session for younger pet lovers, Mini Camp is held from either 9-11am or 2:00PM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday. Sessions are for children entering grades 3 and 4. Young campers are introduced to basic training techniques and enrichment projects used at Spartanburg Humane Society to keep the animals in our care comfortable.

Activities include guest speakers, arts and crafts, field trip, and more! You asked and we listened! We are now offering a morning time for this mini camp! Please note the camp session materials and lessons are exactly the same for the 9-11am camp and 2pm-4pm camp. We just wanted to offer kids a more versatile schedule for their camp time.

Kroc Center’s 3rd annual Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Open House

All of our guests are able to hunt for eggs, then head inside our facility to try it out for FREE.

Just in case you missed it, this event is FREE!
However, it is required that all participants fill out a waiver (linked below) in order to participate in the egg hunt and enjoy the other activities.
Food will be available for purchase via food trucks that we have invited out for this event.
Our Spring Open House is FREE as well, so after you have gathered your eggs, head inside for some more family fun!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate- 2nd Annual Run for Kids’ Sake 5K + 1 Miler

Our first fundraising event of the year will be the 2nd Annual Run For Kids’ Sake on Saturday, March 9th, beginning at 9 AM. Through sponsorships, donations, and event registrations, funds will be raised for mentoring relationships for underserved children right here in our community. Tickets are non refundable. Event will continue in rain or shine.

The 5K run will take participants through a scenic route within Lake Conestee Nature Park, in Greenville, SC. The route may include well-maintained trails, boardwalks, and possibly some challenging yet rewarding terrains. The 1-mile fun run takes a more leisurely path within the park, ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere. Rocky Cove Railroad Exhibit

On exhibit Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m., Rocky Cove Railroad is a G-Scale (garden scale) model train that demonstrates the coming of trains to western North Carolina at the turn of the 20th century. We’ll celebrate the experience in community, enjoying a wild-foraged tea ceremony and snacks. Bring an open mind and an open heart. All are welcome. Presented through Adult & Continuing Education Programs in collaboration with Asheville Wellness Tours.

Christa Hebal is a certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. Born and raised in the mountains of NE Tennessee, she has lived in Asheville for 23 years. Christa has an adventurous heart, and loves to help others encounter wholeness through embodiment and nature connection practices. She has had a professional bodywork practice for 17 years as a nationally certified Massage Therapist, and is also a practitioner of Ortho-Bionomy®, Usui Reiki Master, Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist, Clinical Aromatherapist, and Certified Traditional Herbalist. She is also certified in CPR and Wilderness First Aid.
