Grovewood Village is housed in the historic weaving and woodworking complex of Biltmore Industries, a noteworthy enterprise in the history of American Craft and textiles, founded by Edith Vanderbilt and two inspired teachers, Eleanor Vance and Charlotte Yale. At the height of its success in the late 1920s, Biltmore Industries had a total of 40 looms in steady operation, producing bolts of some of the finest handwoven wool fabric in the country. Orders were shipped as far as China and Uruguay, and customers included the likes of Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Helen Keller, and several U.S. presidents and first ladies.

Learn the story of Biltmore Industries on a guided history tour, offered Wednesday – Saturday at 1pm during April – November.  The tour includes a visit to our historic Dye House (usually closed to the public), where you’ll peek into the past and view the original looms, carding machines, spinning mule and dye vats used to make the famed Biltmore Handwoven Homespun. Tours last approximately 45 minutes and operate on a first-come, first-served basis, open to 25 people. Meet your guide at the Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum next door to Grovewood Gallery.

TOURS ARE FREE, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Private Group Tours
We gladly offer private group tours for a fee. These tours offer the exact same experience as the public tours, only in a private setting. Contact us for rates, and please schedule your group tour at least one week in advance.

Please Note: Our historic Dye House (Biltmore Industries’ production facility) is not handicap accessible or heated. Warm attire on cold days and comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.

WEEKEND ADULT YOGA SUMMER CAMP
Aug 10 @ 8:00 pm – Aug 12 @ 5:00 pm
OM Sanctuary

Remember when you were a kid, and you couldn’t wait to be an adult and knew exactly what you wanted to be when you grew up? And now that you’re #adulting, you realize how much more awesome & easy life was as a kid and you’re not sure what or who you’re supposed to be now?

Well you can now experience the best of both worlds during my Weekend Adult Yoga Summer Camp at OM Sanctuary amidst the magical mountains of Asheville, NC.

We’re including all the camp favorites on like hiking, campfires, s’mores, songs, arts & crafts and we’ve upgraded the things that maybe weren’t so great. Like, instead of a buggy tent or cabin full of bunk beds, we have cozy cottages with private bathrooms and comfy, adult-sized beds. Instead of beans and macaroni and nuggets, we have local, organic plant-based meals to nourish your body and mind.

And of course we’ll do yoga and meditation every day and everywhere, including near a wonderful 300 foot waterfall just outside of town.

Get excited to get away from the stresses, monotony, anxieties and responsibilities of daily life in favor of trying new things and making new friends.

After a weekend of rest & relaxation surrounded by nature, you’ll enjoy a holistic & health-conscious tour of downtown with Asheville Wellness Tours. Then you’re free to cross anything else you want off your Asheville bucket list, like the breweries, the Biltmore and Bohemian arts & dining experiences.

Why am I doing this?

Well, a couple years ago, I quit my corporate job and ended an abusive relationship to focus for the first time ever on self-care, introspection and traveling around the world and I have literally zero regrets, y’all! It’s amazing how getting away from everything and everyone you’re used to can change your life for the better.

But it doesn’t have to be all tears and seriousness and such – it can be totally fun and freeing! I can’t wait to share my advice and experiences with you to help inspire and improve your own amazing journey!

This includes legit yoga I learned in India, meditation techniques I practiced with monks in Myanmar, art & crafts I created in Nepal and lessons I learned from hiking the Himalayas, the Alps & the Andes, having my heart bruised in Bali, volunteering with elephants in Thailand and so many more stories, books and tools I’ve used to be happier and healthier than ever!

But you have to hurry because space is limited to ensure a quaint and quality experience. Save some moolah by booking early bird (ends May 28) and/or bringing your bestie!

See y’all this summer!

Yoga is for everyone and anyone can benefit from it. You do not need to be an athlete or a dancer to do, teach or enjoy yoga. Yoga is a complete human potential technology integrating yoga postures and meditation with lifestyle suggestions and practices for emotional healing and spiritual expansion. Because it is a preventative practice which integrates spirituality and health, yoga has become widely practiced and utilized – the need for qualified instructors is expanding rapidly.

Traditionally, revered yoga instructors were those who taught by example – their lives were an embodiment of the principles of yoga – wisdom, clarity, intuition, serenity, courage and a commitment to service. They often worked individually with students. They came from all walks of life and careers. The Subtle Yoga Training and Personal Transformation Program offers you the opportunity to become this kind of teacher, formally or informally – to exemplify and to learn to share yoga with others from the deepest part of your being.

The program will help you balance knowing, being and doing, balance external and internal learning, and develop an explicit understanding of a learning process which you can use for the rest of your life. The world needs yoga teachers who possess a deep self-knowledge and radiate a commitment to service. During this program you will unveil the depths of your spirit in order to authentically hold and transmit this ancient wisdom tradition.

Kristine Kaoverii Weber, the founder of Subtle Yoga, has been teaching since 1995. Eric Seiler and Marek Sawicki have also been teaching since the 90s – this power team of master instructors will provide you with an unparalleled training experience!
