Aladdin, adapted from the Academy Award®-winning animated Disney film and centuries-old folktales including “One Thousand and One Nights,” is brought to fresh theatrical life in this bold new musical. Aladdin’s journey sweeps audiences into an exotic world of daring adventure, classic comedy and timeless romance. This new production features a full score, including the five cherished songs from the Academy Award-winning soundtrack and more written especially for the stage.

The animated film Aladdin was released by Disney in 1992 and was a critical and box office smash, grossing over $500 million worldwide (not adjusted for inflation) and becoming the highest-grossing film of the year.

The film won the Oscar for Best Original Score and introduced the hit song “A Whole New World,” which won the second of the film’s two Academy Awards as Best Original Song. The Peabo Bryson/Regina Belle recording of the tune soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Aladdin is designed by seven-time Tony-winning scenic designer Bob Crowley, six-time Tony-winning lighting designer Natasha Katz, two-time Tony-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes and sound designer Ken Travis.

The production team also includes illusion designer Jim Steinmeyer, hair designer Josh Marquette and makeup designer Milagros Medina-Cerdeira. The music team is headed by music supervisor and music director Michael Kosarin, who also created the vocal and incidental music arrangements, joined by orchestrator Danny Troob and dance music arranger Glen Kelly.

National Geographic Live: Exploring Mars with Kobie Boykins
Sep 16 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Peace Center

Few events in the last decade of space exploration have captured the world’s imagination like NASA’s Mars Exploration Program. The successful deployment of the Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity in 2004 launched a new era of scientific investigation of our nearest planetary neighbor, and marked a personal triumph for Kobie Boykins: he helped design and build the solar arrays that enabled the rovers to keep going long after their planned 90-day life.

As supervisor of the mobility and remote sensing teams for the Mars rover Curiosity, Boykins monitored the headline making studies of the rover, including evidence that conditions on Mars could once have supported life. In 2013, Boykins received a NASA Exceptional Service Medal, one of the highest honors given to NASA employees and contractors.

Join Boykins for an engaging evening exploring the red planet—with an update on the latest chapter in Mars exploration. His boundless enthusiasm for unraveling the mysteries of outer space, and Mars in particular, is infectious.

West Marches – A Dungeon & Dragons Experience
Sep 16 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Triskelion Brewing Company

The village of Triskelion has been isolated for as long as anyone can remember. Her inhabitants grow weary and thirst for adventure. Now, they decide, is the time to venture into the wilderness and explore!

Do you have what it takes to brave the dangers of the unknown? Will you steel yourself and venture to uncover sights unseen? Can you handle what lies beyond the borders of the village?

This is West Marches!

West Marches is a style of Dungeons & Dragons game play that is a bit different than what you may have heard about or played before.

In a traditional game, the organizer (or Dungeon Master) predetermines content and guides the players through a story. The focus is on narrative. This type of game can be a lot of fun, however, it’s best enjoyed with a set cast of players and characters.

In a West Marches style game, the direction is determined by the players and is focused on world exploration. The story is told by the characters and their actions in the game. This type of game allows for a rotating cast of players in a more relaxed atmosphere.
