This new production features a full score, including the five cherished songs from the Academy Award-winning soundtrack and more written especially for the stage.

The animated film Aladdin was released by Disney in 1992 and was a critical and box office smash, grossing over $500 million worldwide (not adjusted for inflation) and becoming the highest-grossing film of the year.

The film won the Oscar for Best Original Score and introduced the hit song “A Whole New World,” which won the second of the film’s two Academy Awards as Best Original Song. The Peabo Bryson/Regina Belle recording of the tune soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Aladdin is designed by seven-time Tony-winning scenic designer Bob Crowley, six-time Tony-winning lighting designer Natasha Katz, two-time Tony-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes and sound designer Ken Travis.

The production team also includes illusion designer Jim Steinmeyer, hair designer Josh Marquette and makeup designer Milagros Medina-Cerdeira. The music team is headed by music supervisor and music director Michael Kosarin, who also created the vocal and incidental music arrangements, joined by orchestrator Danny Troob and dance music arranger Glen Kelly.

Workshop with Hannah Palmer: Writing About Home

This literary placemaking workshop is aimed at helping both beginners and established writers tell their stories. The idea is to capture a diverse range of voices and memories that capture the essence of the places we are from.

Hannah Palmer works as an urban designer in Atlanta. She writes about the intersection of southern stories and urban landscapes for venues like CNN, Art Papers, Atlanta Magazine, ATL Studies, and for urban design and planning projects around the world. A graduate of Agnes Scott College, she earned an MFA in creative writing from Sewanee: The University of the South. She lives near the Atlanta Airport with her husband and sons. Her first book, Flight Path: A Search for Roots beneath the World’s Busiest Airport, was published in 2017 by Hub City Press.

Check-in is at 3 PM on Saturday.

If your vehicle fits in the 20 x 20 space, you’re welcome to park it alongside your tent. Otherwise, you can move it to the nearby parking lot.

While there are no individual fires permitted, we will have communal fires in the camping area for our guests.

No outside alcoholic beverages are permitted. We will also have food and beverage vendors on Saturday evening. The dining hall will be open for breakfast on Sunday morning for $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 5-12, and free for children 4 and under (plus 7% tax) per person. Make breakfast reservations when you reserve your campsite.

There are not showers for camping sites. There are port-o-potties.

Check-out is Noon on Sunday, but you may continue to enjoy the lake until 4 PM.

The Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra announces the opening concert of the 2019-20 season at the Riverside Baptist 1249 S. Suber Rd Greer, SC 29650, Saturday, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. with the Opening Night Gala: Masterworks I Concert All of Foothills’ concerts are free and general admission to the public. Refreshments will be provided following the performance at our reception where people can meet and greet the performers. The program includes our annual art sale for local artists, as well as is the opening concert of the orchestra’s 20th anniversary season. Because of this, all of our masterworks concerts will be featuring favorite selections from the previous nineteen seasons, as well as other miscellaneous surprises along the way.
Performing in Greenville since 2000, Foothills Philharmonic is committed to providing high-quality, classical music performances to the Upstate community free of charge. The orchestra is an all-volunteer orchestra made up of accomplished non-professional musicians from the Upstate region of South Carolina. Orchestra membership includes individuals from many walks of life including part-time musicians, teachers, lawyers, business professionals, and homemakers. Kory Vrieze is the Orchestra’s Artistic Director and Conductor. Membership in the Foothills Philharmonic is open to amateur and professional musicians. Training in youth orchestra, college orchestra, or professional orchestra, in the Greenville Concert Band or an equivalent band is suggested as necessary experience. Blue Ridge Honor Flight will host a welcome home celebration for their next flight at the Asheville Regional Airport. Community, family and friends are invited and encouraged to be present upon the return of World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans from their visit to their memorials in Washington, D.C. that day.

There will be music, poster making stations, and open restaurants for food prior to the flight’s arrival.
