Water our garden plot at the Greer Community Garden located at 218 West Road, Greer, SC. Our plots are 13,19,25,31. Coming from the parking lot, they will be the last 4 plots to the far left of the first section.

The best time to water is when the temperature is before 80° (in the morning before the sun is too high or in the late afternoon once it’s begun to set).

Working Wednesdays: Invasive Removal

Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park

Meet a Ranger at the Rumbling Bald Climbing access as we hack trough some invasive plants that threaten the biodiversity of the gorge. Tools provided. Wear sturdy boots, bring gloves, and water. No registration required.

Note: This event takes place at the Rumbling Bald park access.

The Spartanburg Soup Kitchen has been serving the community since 1981. With the goal of nourishing those in need both physically and spiritually, they have become an irreplaceable resource in Spartanburg.
In addition to their regular services, the soup kitchen also provides a “children’s corner” which offers a special place for kids to enjoy a meal and engage in activities such as story time or drawing with volunteers and other guests.

Organize pantry

Introduction to Medicinal Plants with Rachel Meriwether

We will be learning about a variety of plants, both native and non-native, that can be used to relieve a number of everyday health concerns. We will also cover the basics of salve and tincture making! You only need to bring yourself, your curiosity, and something to write on! The information presented in this class is intended for educational purposes and should not be considered an endorsement of or recommendation for any medical treatment. Downtown Spartanburg will get a little loud on Sept. 14 as College Fest returns, bringing students from all seven Spartanburg County colleges together for a dance party on Morgan Square. The event is part of a strategy to connect students more closely to Spartanburg in hopes of keeping them here after graduation.

A not-for-profit consortium of Spartanburg’s seven public and private accredited colleges and universities, in partnership with the City of Spartanburg.

College Town capitalizes on the advantages offered by the large number of diverse colleges in order to create educational, social, service and career development opportunities for students.

VIRTUAL RAILFAN is live from the Hub City RR Museum in Spartanburg.

The Virtual Railfan cameras were installed on Tuesday, July 6th at the Hub City Railroad Museum. There is one camera looking north and one looking south. The Hub City RR Museum wants to thank the City of Spartanburg for allowing us to install the cameras, and to Virtual Railfan for the install. We have already seen over 300 railfans at one time watching the video feed.

CRHA LogoThe Carolina Railroad Heritage Association is a <501(c)(3)> not for profit local association of approximately eighty members who enjoy railroads and railroad history. The CRHA is currently meeting the third Friday of each month in Fountain Inn, SC at 7:00 pm. Programs at the meetings include presentations on historical and current railroads and are presented by members as well as outside speakers. Our activities include a photo contest, occasional field trips to local railroad sites, picnics and a December pot luck dinner. CRHA members volunteer at our museum and caboose in Spartanburg, SC. If you have an interest in railroads, contact Dave Winans at [email protected] for more information about the CRHA.
