In the yoga practice for our summer sessions, we will learn how to harness and regulate energy in the body by following breath wherever it leads as we practice. We will explore a basic question or mantra as an inner body mantra. And we will end the season combining the outer vinyasa of yoga postures with the inner vinyasa of mantra as a compassion practice. This is an any level, any ability, any body practice.
In the kitchen, summer will be all about preservation. We will practice preservation through a number of methods: canning, fermentation, and pickles! We will be canning a fruit jam and tomato sauce. We will work through vegetable fermentation and fridge/quick pickles. As always, we will focus on local, fresh seasonal ingredients. We will talk about various flavor and herbal adaptations to fit you (and your families) tastes! Our preservation kitchen time will culminate with our September class with a pizza feast! We will bring back out our tomato sauce to put on wood fired pizzas! We may even get crazy and experiment with our jams! We will gather at a local rustic farmhouse to celebrate the summer bounty brings us!
Kitchen details
July – In July we will learn to can two everyday pantry items: jam/jelly and tomato sauce. Participants will be able to take home a jam and sauce to share at home.
August – We will be learning two methods of pickles: fermentation and quick/fridge pickles. More than cucumbers, we will be playing around with the fruits and vegetables that August brings us, as well as building unique herbal and spice profiles to create tasty jars of pickles to take home!
September – We will be gathering at a rustic farmhouse for our end of summer gathering. After our yoga practice, our favorite local food partner, 313 will be bringing up their wood fired pizza oven and we will be jamming out to some tasty pizzas featuring homemade dough, our canned tomato sauce, and loads of farm fresh topping!
The cost of the series is $225 for all three workshops (or $75 for one). This price is all-inclusive!
Because of the nature of food and ingredients, there will be no refunds, only credit for future events. We need a 48 hour notice for cancellations. If inclement weather becomes an issue, we will provide 5 hour notice of cancellation and work on rescheduling/credit/refund, as appropriate.

“Breaking news for Broadway: IT IS TIME TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN! One of the most ravishing musicals you will ever be seduced by. It is called ‘THE BAND’S VISIT.’” -The New York Times, Critics’ Pick
The critically acclaimed new musical, THE BAND’S VISIT, celebrates the deeply human ways music, longing and laughter can connect us all. After a mix-up at the border, an Egyptian Police Band is sent to a remote village in the middle of the Israeli desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways.
Based on the multi-award winning film, THE BAND’S VISIT is brought to the stage by three-time Tony® nominee DAVID YAZBEK (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Full Monty), Drama Desk nominee ITAMAR MOSES (Nobody Loves You, Fortress of Solitude) and acclaimed director DAVID CROMER (Our Town, The House of Blue Leaves).
