Greenville Gay Men’s Chorus presents BIG GAY BINGO—Halloween Edition, Friday, October 3 at Greenville’s Radio Room. There are sung sonnets, limericks, and musical jokes, and the thread that runs through it is the beauty of growing old. Despite the inconvenience, old age brings the contentment of LESS IS MORE.
Your mistakes and big ambitions are behind you, nothing left to prove, and small things give you great pleasure because that’s what’s left. (“I was unhappy in college because it was a requirement for an ntellectual, but then I went into show business and discovered that people won’t pay to be made inhappy; their kids will do it for free.”)
There is the News from Lake Wobegon, a town booming with new entrepreneurs, makers of artisanal firewood and gourmet meatloaf, breeders of composting worms, and dogs trained to do childcare. But some things endure, such as the formation of the Living Flag on Main Street, citizens in tight formation wearing red, white, or blue caps, and Mr. Keillor among them, standing close to old neighbors, Myrtle Krebsbach (“Truckstop”) and Julie Christensen (“Bruno, The Fishing Dog”) and Clint Bunsen. And an a – cappella sing-along with the audience singing from memory an odd medley of patriotic songs, pop standards, hymns, and ending with the national anthem.
Join the Greenville Police Department and Bon Secours Wellness Arena for the Fill the Cruisers Emergency Food Drive, benefiting Project Host. With food insecurity rising and potential delays in SNAP benefits across South Carolina, this community event aims to support local families in need ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Residents are encouraged to stop by the Arena and help fill police cruisers with nonperishable food and essential items, which will be delivered directly to Project Host’s Soup Kitchen and outreach programs. Most needed items include canned vegetables and fruit, canned proteins, rice, pasta, sauces, peanut butter and jelly, applesauce, snack crackers, mac & cheese, and pop-top soups. What is a Madrigal Feaste?
We recreate a Renaissance style feast with a catered meal, costumes, singing, and entertainment. Our Royal Court, Jester, and his colleague, Mertonsire, are excited to introduce our special guest, Admiral Anchorbottom, who will regale you with tales of the sea and there are sure to be some shenanigans along the way! It will be a very “punny” evening and will surely put you in the holiday spirit!
Ticket Details:
Tickets will NOT be available at the door and must be purchased by December 1st. We will have two shows with banquet style seating in the WHHS Castle (magically transformed atrium!). Seating will be first come, first served, so we encourage early arrival to enjoy our holiday market. The Town Cryer will begin announcing the guests at 6:45 and escorting them to the banquet hall.
