Greenlink is seeking volunteers for its pilot Mystery Rider Program. This customer service initiative aims to collect trip feedback in real-time, is intended to gather details on the complete customer experience and will identify areas for improvement and employee recognition.
Why should you volunteer?
- Help the Facilities team address bus stop issues.
- Help the Maintenance team address mechanical issues and cleanliness issues on the bus.
- Help the Safety & Training team address areas for improvement in operations and customer service.
Your feedback can lead to a better customer experience for everyone!
What is required and what do you get out of it?
Volunteers will be required to participate in a one-hour training to understand how to complete the Mystery Rider Report. In exchange for attending the training, volunteers will receive two 7-Day passes ($25 value).
Then, once the training is complete, passengers will be required to complete a minimum of 12 Mystery Rider Reports:
- 3 completed on trips taken M-F between 5:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- 3 completed on trips taken M-F between 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.
- 3 completed on trips taken M-F between 4:30 – 11:30 p.m.
- 3 completed on trips taken on Saturdays between 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
In exchange for completing the twelve reports, volunteers will receive one 31-Day pass ($50 value).
All reports are due by April 30, 2024.

Mountain Science Expo 2024
Join us for a free STEM-oriented science festival where you can interact with scientists, explore nature, and grow your curiosity!
The Mountain Science Expo is a part of the larger NC Science Festival, a state-wide and month-long event dedicated to celebrating the impact of science educationally, culturally, and economically on our state. The NC Science Festival and the Mountain Science Expo hope to inspire children to pursue—and adults to support—the sciences, such that North Carolina can lead the country and the world as a place of innovation and learning. This year’s theme, in fact, is “State of Innovation,” highlighting how science is being driven forward within North Carolina.

Through the Mountain Science Expo, we aim to support STEM education by providing an opportunity for all ages to interact with scientists and science educators in a hands-on and wonder-filled environment. Participating exhibitors include:

Native Azalea Day
Participants in the 2024 Mountain Science Expo will also have the opportunity to visit the North Carolina Arboretum’s Azalea Collections for a special Native Azalea Day event. This event will feature additional exhibitors, including local horticultural organizations, artists, and ecoEXPLORE educators. The Azalea Collections are remote and normally only accessible by trail. Access to them for the event will be eased via ADA accessible vans.
Golden Tickets
Kids can get special Golden Tickets! Simply check out a science book from your local library, and you’ll receive a Golden Ticket good for free parking the day of the event.
There is no additional cost to attend Mountain Science Expo beyond our standard parking fee. As always, Arboretum Society members and their accompanying guests can enter for FREE (guests must be in member vehicles to receive free entry).
Native Azalea Day
April 27, 2024
Visit the gardens this spring for Native Azalea Day, an invitation to celebrate and experience azaleas through the eyes of plant enthusiasts, botanists, and artists. In partnership with the Mountain Science Exposition, Native Azalea Day plans to bring even more excitement in its second year! For one day only, visitors can observe as plein air artists capture the scene in paint and pen, learn about the garden and its collection on a walking tour, and participate in hands-on activities for children and adults.
A shuttle to the Collection will be available between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., departing to and from the Baker Visitor Center throughout the event. Visitors are also welcome to walk to the Native Azalea Collection from the Gatehouse Parking Lot using Old Mill Road to Bent Creek Road, or can park at the Baker Visitor Center and walk down Running Cedar Road to Bent Creek Road. Walkers should be prepared to travel one mile over unpaved roads and paths.
All activities, unless otherwise noted, are included with general admission fees.

Artisphere has approached us to participate in their Arts Partner Program, offering a chance to secure funding for GCCA through volunteer efforts. By collectively completing 250 volunteer hours, we can unlock vital resources that will be reinvested back into our community in various meaningful ways.
While our dedicated staff is committed to contributing their time, we recognize that our team alone will not reach the goal. That’s why we’re calling on our wonderful community to join us in this endeavor. With your help, we can achieve our target of 250 volunteer hours.
We’re asking for volunteers to sign up for 2 to 4 shifts each, with most shifts spanning 3 to 4 hours (some may be slightly longer). Your participation will not only support GCCA but also contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of our city.
To sign up for shifts, please follow the instructions provided in the link below. When registering, be sure to indicate that you’re volunteering on behalf of GCCA to ensure your hours count towards our total. After signing up, we ask that you kindly inform our Operations Manager, Alicia Mizuno, of the number of shifts and total hours you’ve committed to. All farm volunteer hours will be held at our Sullivan Street Farm location (15 Bolt Street, Greenville, SC, 29605, look for a white and grey pavilion-like building and metal garden beds, the yellow X on the map below denotes the location where we’ll meet before getting started on tasks).
Help with greenhouse tasks such as seeding, potting up transplants, labeling/organizing plant trays. Help with urban farm tasks such as weeding, mulching, composting/fertilizing, seeding, transplanting, harvesting.
This work will take place outdoors so you should dress accordingly (layers are always a good idea) in something you don’t mind getting dirty. Closed toe shoes are required. Items like sunscreen and/or hats are helpful. Please bring a water bottle and feel free to bring snacks if you’d like.
**PLEASE NOTE: These volunteer shifts require physical labor that involves activities such as bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time. We also may use tools such as drills, hammers, shovels, wheelbarrows, etc. Please be prepared to work hard and have some fun!**
**PLEASE NOTE: We do not accept volunteers aged 12 or younger. Additionally, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or supervising adult.**
Would you like more information about the lions, the alligators or another one of our residents? Docents will be on hand in front of select exhibits throughout the zoo every Tuesday, September through May. Join us during these displayed times to speak with our knowledgeable staff about our animal ambassadors.
