Join the Determined to Soar team in welcoming Marlee Matlin, the Academy Award-Winning Actress & Activist to Spartanburg.
In an elevated evening also featuring Spartanburg performers, guest speaker Ms. Matlin will deliver an inspirational message: Nobody’s Perfect: Achieving Inclusion, Diversity, & Access.
Determined to Soar is a non-partisan, non-profit group joining forces to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and in contemporary life in order to educate, inspire, and unify the next generation of leaders. To accomplish these goals, Determined to Soar stages interactive and engaging events.

Converse students may attend for free by showing their Converse ID at the Box Office entrance on the day of the event, and being seated in the balconies, except the center balconies of 7 & 8, which are for sale.
Converse faculty and staff are entitled to a discount by arranging tickets through the box office prior to the event.

Children’s Books and Classical Music presented at your local library. A Greenville staple for more than 40 years, Lollipops combines a storybook narrated by Traysie Amick with live classical music. 10:00 AM first location (Hughes Main Library) and 11:30 AM second location (Greer Library.)

General admission to the South Carolina State Museum is only $1 for guests on First Sunday!*
Included in general admission, guests can explore four floors of South Carolina art, cultural history, natural history and science/technology, including the Boeing Observatory and the Robert B. Arial Collection of Historical Astronomy located on the fourth floor.
For an additional price, guests can enjoy a planetarium show and/or a 4D theater movie.

MALEVO – the “South American Sensation” – is a thrilling all-male group specializing in Malambo, a traditional Argentine folk dance of great virility and dexterity. The troupe takes the form beyond its limits with a modern, avant-garde and transgressive approach, while still staying true to the cultural foundations of this traditional gaucho artform. Bringing live music and virtuosic dancing to the contemporary stage, this performance is exhilarating, engaging and perfect for the entire family.
MALEVO has been named the “Cultural Ambassador to the National Identity of Argentina,” and is on the tail of numerous successes including events and performances in Las Vegas, New York, Dubai, Paris, Cairo, St. Petersburg and Montreal. The America’s Got Talent semi-finalists have performed alongside Latin pop-star Ricky Martin, Cirque du Soleil, and had a year-long performance season at Universal Studios Osaka, Japan. Now, MALEVO is excited to present a new touring performance created for theaters and festivals.

Spend an hour hiking one of the Parks’ six trails with a naturalist. Watch the transformation from winter to spring on this educational excursion. You may even learn some of the Parks’ history as well. Meet in front of Cliff Dwellers Gifts.

The Roper Research Room is open each Tuesday from 1 – 7 p.m. or by appointment with the curator. Find photos and documents about Anderson County or your ancestors from the area. The holdings in our library are more than 2,800 strong making it a wonderful resource for teachers, students and researchers. From city directories, maps and photographs, to many family genealogies, we have information that can help with your research.
