We welcome the tail feathers of Elite runners, weekend warriors, mamma’s with strollers and kids alike along our fast 3.1 mile run course! Or, our NEW tradition, the 1 Mile FUN RUN!
Proceeds go to scholarship kids in the community to be active through our Operation Active Kids Program, OAK.

Thanksgiving is the largest running holiday with families all over the country getting together to share miles and smiles prior to their meal later in the day. We hope you will make this race part of your annual tradition.
Join us in Biltmore Park Town Square on Thanksgiving morning for South Asheville’s only Thanksgiving Day 5k. Our route will begin and end in front of Fleet Feet Asheville and run through Biltmore Park Town Square and the surrounding neighborhood.

Our highest priority is our commitment to having a first-class event all around.
All pre-registered participants will receive a 50/50 poly-blend long sleeve t-shirt, personalized name on their race bib, finisher medal upon completion, swag from our vendor partners, raffle tickets, and are invited to stay to enjoy post-race refreshments and fun.

This year’s feast starts with Cheese and Charcuterie; followed by a Holiday She Crab Bisque and Breads; the featured entrée is Fried Turkey with Sage Butter and Gravy and Roast Beef with a Red Wine Demi Glace; Macaroni and Cheese; a Caesar Salad, Herb Roasted Fall Vegetables and Rolls round out the main course; and, ending dinner with Pumpkin Custart and Ginger Snap Torte or Cookie Butter and Caramel Bread Pudding. All Aboard THE POLAR EXPRESS! This memorable journey will take you on an incredible journey! Believe the magic this Holiday season!
Over 88,000 guests rode THE POLAR EXPRESS with the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in 2017 and we hope to see you in 2018! The 1¼ hour round-trip excursion comes to life as the train departs the Bryson City depot for a journey through the quiet wilderness for a special visit at the North Pole. Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, guests on board will enjoy warm cocoa and a treat while listening and reading along with the magical story. Children’s faces show the magic of the season when the train arrives at the North Pole to find Santa Claus waiting. Santa will board THE POLAR EXPRESS, greeting each child and presenting them with a special gift as in the story, their own silver sleigh bell. Christmas carols will be sung as they return back to the Bryson City Depot.
THE POLAR EXPRESS begins November 9, 2018, and operates through December 31, 2018.
District Six schools and offices will be closed November 21-23 for Thanksgiving Holiday.
