Located in the heart of downtown on Morgan Square, Music on Main is Spartanburg’s most anticipated summer concert series! Friends from all over gather every Thursday, April to July, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm to listen to some of the hottest and hippest bands around!

Old Crow Medicine Show began as street performers in 1998, busking their way from New York to Canada with infectious energy and raw spirit. Their big break came in Boone, North Carolina, where a chance encounter with folk legend Doc Watson led to an invitation to play MerleFest — and the rest is history.

More than two decades later, the band is a beloved staple of American roots music. They’re Grand Ole Opry members, two-time Grammy winners (including Best Folk Album for Remedy), and the force behind the double-platinum anthem “Wagon Wheel.” Their debut album O.C.M.S. is now certified Gold, and their latest release, Jubilee (Aug 2023, ATO Records), earned a Grammy nomination — proving that Old Crow is still blazing trails with heart, grit, and unmistakable sound.

2025 will be the 59th Season of Shindig On the Green!

Bring your instruments, families, friends, lawn chairs and blankets and join us for good times at the Bascom Lamar Lunsford Stage. In 2025 Shindig on the Green, which features a stage show and informal jam sessions around the park, continues at its original location — formerly known as City County Plaza, now transformed into the new Pack Square Park. Locals and visitors alike come together downtown “along about sundown,” or at 7:00pm for those who wear a watch, until 10:00p.m. Concessions are available. Come experience the beautiful music and dance traditions of Southern Appalachia on a summer evening in the mountains.

Jason Isbell record always lands like a decoder ring in the ears and hearts of his audience, a soundtrack to his world and magically to theirs, too. Weathervanes carries the same revelatory power. This is a storyteller at the peak of his craft, observing his fellow wanderers, looking inside and trying to understand, reducing a universe to four minutes. He shrinks life small enough to name the fear and then strip it away, helping his listeners make sense of how two plus two stops equaling four once you reach a certain age — and carry a certain amount of scars.

Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive presented by Spectrum benefiting Metropolitan Arts Council, kicks off the weekend every Thursday night with music at NOMA Square on Main Street. FREE ADMISSION. More than 45,000 people attend this event annually. The event serves as the single largest fundraiser for the Metropolitan Arts Council. Get ready to move! Salsa at Sunset returns for its 10th season with a summer full of rhythm, culture, and connection. Hosted by Upstate International and proudly presented by BDV Solutions, this beloved free family-friendly outdoor series brings the joy of Latin music and dance to the heart of our community, every last Friday of the month from June through August.

This summer features the crowd-favorite bands and brings the heat with a dynamic mix of salsa, merengue, and Latin jazz that’ll keep you dancing all night long.

Whether you’re an experienced dancer or just want to feel the rhythm and have fun, this is your night to shine under the summer sky. Dance instruction is offered at the start of the evening, so bring your friends, your date, or your whole crew!
