Make Greenville Center for Creative Arts (GCCA) your first stop on First Friday! Located in the historic Brandon Mill complex in the creative arts district of West Greenville, GCCA is a perfect place to begin the Metropolitan Arts Council’s monthly art walk.
The Art Center is open for extended hours, 6pm to 9pm, on the first Friday of every month for First Friday activities. In addition to viewing multiple exhibitions from both locally and nationally-recognized artists, at GCCA you’ll have the opportunity to meet the resident working artists, see their studio spaces and works in progress, and learn more about their personal style and artistic process.
The mission of GCCA is to enrich the cultural fabric of the community through visual arts promotion, education, and inspiration. Founded by a dedicated group of artists, teachers, and community leaders, the Art Center offers programs for people of all ages, backgrounds, and economic circumstances.
Greenville’s Downtown Trolley (Route 903) provides visitors to the downtown area easy and free transport to the West Greenville area from July through September, every Thursday and Friday, 6pm to 11pm, and Saturdays, 5:30pm to 11pm. Friday Night Welcome Dinner
Before coming to the Sculpture Celebration, join us for the Sculptors’ Welcome Dinner on Friday night! This event is open to the pubic.
Tickets are $30 each and include a beer and wine reception with music by Jimmie Griffith, a presentation by this year’s judge, Brent Skidmore, and a catered dinner. We hope to see you there!
The revitalized Judson Mill District launches its community event series “Movies at the Mill,” a free outdoor gathering on the second Friday of each month in the West Courtyard featuring food trucks, popcorn, beverages, outdoor games, and family-friendly movies on a large outdoor screen. The first Movies at the Mill, hosted by Events at Judson, is scheduled for Friday, June 14, and features “Wonka,” a musical fantasy film that explores the early adventures of Willy Wonka before he became a chocolatier. The event will take place in the West Courtyard of the Judson Mill District, located at 701 Easley Bridge Road, Greenville, SC 29611. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. Each event begins at 7 p.m. with the movie starting around 8 p.m.
On Saturday mornings from the beginning of May until the end of October, two blocks of downtown Greenville’s Main Street are transformed into a bustling farmers’ market. The market features over 75 vendors selling the season’s freshest produce and the area’s most original and high quality crafts. Each week thousands of people flock to the TD Saturday Market for locally-sourced products where all food must be grown or produced within 100 miles of Greenville and crafters are highly-encouraged to use locally-sourced supplies.

We need volunteers to pack nearly 1,500 meals every Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 10:00 a.m. The food is prepared by our kitchen staff and set-up in an assembly line for packaging.
PET FOOD PACKAGING
Meals on Wheels also strives to help the pets of the homebound in Greenville. We need volunteers to package dog and cat food for monthly distribution and to organize pet food drives.
MEAL DISTRIBUTION
Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 10:30 until 12 pm to greet in-coming volunteers, hand out route sheets and answer questions.

Threads is an inspiring picture book about a girl’s survival of the 1930s Ukrainian Famine-Genocide, messaging hope, pride for one’s heritage, and context for today’s War in Ukraine.
The threads on Zlata’s beautiful birthday blouse were knotted by her mother’s hands. “Red is for love, and black is for sadness,” her Papa says. Her Mama warns her not to show it off. Ever since the Communists came from Russia to Ukraine, they prohibited the teaching of Ukrainian culture. They’ve even taken the grain from Zlata’s family’s fields. But despite the danger, her parents refuse to give up their art, language, or beliefs.
As Zlata works to help her community survive, she finds that the dream of freedom is stitched deeper into the Ukrainian spirit than she could ever imagine.
Drawing from her own family’s experience in the 1932-33 Ukrainian Famine-Genocide, Lina Maslo weaves a thoughtful story that dares us not the forget the pain of the past as it informs the present conflict in Ukraine and inspires hope for the future.
Lina Maslo is a Ukrainian American author, illustrator and designer. Her published books include Free as a Bird: The Story of Malala (Balzer+Bray), a Library Guild Selection, CCBC Choice, and the winner of the Living the Dream Book Award; and Through the Wardrobe: How C. S. Lewis Created Narnia (Balzer+Bray). Of her newest release, Threads: Zlata’s Ukrainian Shirt (FSG)., a Kirkus starred review praised: “A poignant yet accessible entry into Ukraine’s ongoing suffering—and survival.” Lina loves to explore different media such as acrylics, gouache, and pen and ink. She has a Degree of Art from New College of Florida, and currently resides in South Carolina with her husband and four kids.
Ruby Morgan, Furman Music Professor Emerita, shines a spotlight on women composers in the classical music world through performance and word. This survey reaches beyond the usual few and includes many who were contemporaries of Mozart and Hayden. The museum’s collection of keyboard instruments includes many of the type used by these composers, providing additional highlights and understanding of the work of these important composers.

Join author Andrew K. Clark In Conversation with Maris Lawyer to discuss his new novel, Where Dark Things Grow. This event is free to the public and books will be available for purchase.
In his debut novel, Where Dark Things Grow, poet Andrew K. Clark blends magical realism, horror, and Southern Gothic to create a beautifully rendered and dark tale. Leo is a troubled fifteen-year-old growing up in rural, Depression-era Appalachia with unstable parents, two useless brothers, his sick baby sister, Goldfish, and the memory of his deceased brother, Jacob. When his father goes missing, Leo’s attempts to help his family and find his father bring him into contact with mythical beasts, alchemists, prostitutes, and Jacob’s ghost, who may or may not be an evil spirit.
As Leo navigates his place in the physical world and magical realms around him, he struggles with the legacy of his father and his own dark desires. Will he be able to save those touched by illness, insanity, and greed? Can he shake his own connection to an ancient evil and find a better path? Step into the world of Andrew K. Andrew K. Clark’s poetry collection, Jesus in the Trailer, was published by Main Street Rag Press, and his debut novel, Where Dark Things Grow, is forthcoming from Cowboy Jamboree Press. His work has appeared in The American Journal of Poetry, UCLA’s Out of Anonymity, Appalachian Review, Rappahannock Review, and The Wrath Bearing Tree. He received his MFA from Converse College. A Western North Carolina native, Clark lives outside Asheville, NC.

Her love of the written word eventually led her to law school, and later to establish the law firm Cleveland & Conley, LLC, in Charleston, South Carolina, where she represents public employers, inlcuding local governments and law enforcement. Caroline writes stories from a Southern perspective, featuring deceptively peaceful small towns and strong, complex characters who rely on their Southern sense of values.
