The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis—an ensemble of 15 virtuoso instrumentalists—delivers unforgettable performances with a characteristic flair and authority developed over 35 years of unrivaled excellence. The group’s compositions and arrangements embody an unprecedented variety of styles and genres including works by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, and Benny Goodman, among so many, spanning jazz’s entire documented history.

Legendary Artists Series

Keith Lockhart hosts an intimate evening with Wynton Marsalis celebrating the music and career of the Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, performer, and educator. Violinist Tai Murray and members of BMC’s Artist Faculty perform A Fiddler’s Tale, Wynton’s modern take on the old story about the artist who sells her soul to the devil, updated with some wonderful musical and narrative twists.

Outdoor concerts bringing live music to downtown Greenville kick off this week.

Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive and Greenville Heritage Main Street Fridays will return to NOMA Square for the 2024 season with a lineup of new and returning artists.

Downtown Alive starts Thursday, March 14 with performances by Linda Faye’s Sound. Benefiting the Metropolitan Arts Council, the weekly music series runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday until late August.

The Lakeside Concert Series presents concerts of various musical styles, genres, historical contexts, and cultural representation over a series of 10 weeks. Each week, there will be musical performances lasting a minimum of 1 hour each beginning at 7:30 every Thursday all summer.

In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be moved indoors to McAlister Auditorium. Contact the Music Department office at 864-294-2086 for details. If you call after 5 p.m., there will be a recording on the voicemail providing information about the concert location and performers for the week.
