Beginning May 4, 2021, the period between 8 and 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday morning of every month will be reserved for “Meditative Mornings,” a pause for quiet time in our gardens and on our trails. During this time, our working garden crew will abstain from using leaf blowers, mowers and other equipment so you can be sure to enjoy the sounds of birds and the wind in the trees.

Take advantage of half-price parking on the first Tuesday of every month and come out to the Arboretum to enjoy a Meditative Morning!

In Japan, the birthplace of forest bathing (Shinrin Yoku), they celebrate the annual cherry blossom bloom (Sakura) with a practice known as Hanami, which translates to “contemplate the flowers.” This experience gently invites us to cultivate our attention and sensory awareness, while noticing the evanescent nature of flowering, both within and around us. Together, we will explore our relationships with native wildflowers, ourselves, each-other, and the more-than-human-world.

Throughout the duration of this comprehensive day-long event, participants engage in a dialogue that underscores the significance of rural transit, highlighting its potential to empower communities and stimulate economic growth. Through a diverse array of perspectives and insights, attendees gain a deeper understanding of the multifaceted benefits that robust rural transportation networks offer, not only enhancing community cohesion but also bolstering regional economies.

By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the Rural Transit Day event can facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of innovative solutions to improve transit services in rural communities.

Greenville Go Club is a group of gamers who play the strategy board game know as ‘go’ (or baduk). They have plenty of equipment and the group is free. They are very happy to teach new players and do teaching games and group game reviews as well.

Go is an abstract board game for two players, in which the aim is to surround more territory than the opponent. It has very simple rules and is easy to learn, but challenging to master! The game originated in ancient China more than 2,500 years ago and is one of the oldest board games played today.

You’re invited to join Ten at the Top to dive into the world of downtown revitalization with our series that takes you on-site to 10 of the Upstate’s downtowns. Prior to each meeting, the participants will receive a short video to highlight the month’s theme. The group will meet in the designated community for a tour of the downtown, which will include local guests. At the end of each evening, the cohort will eat at a local downtown restaurant and discuss how the theme was applied. Participation is limited to 25 attendees. Each participant is responsible for their transportation and dinner.
