Tridevi: An Indian Dance Drama Extravaganza
Sep 22 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
McAlister Auditorium

It is my honor to welcome all of you to the Indian Classical Dance Drama Ballet “TRIDEVI” presented by Nrithyanjali School of Dance (NSOD). Art is an inspiration to one’s way of life; it has always been to me! It is an art that brings to life the culture and values of a faraway civilization right here to our neighborhood.

“TRIDEVI” is a beautiful combination of song, music, drama and dance and heightens the dramatic moments of the narratives through inclusion of exciting elements of emotions, war, celebration and dances, and a visual treat of mythical places, palaces, mountains, forests, battlefields and cosmic constellations. The music is to be provided by live professional orchestra with the assistance of a vocalist, flutist, drummer (mridangam) and a violinist.

This dance drama will showcase the cultural and spiritual values of India. It will be a visual treat to both adults and children alike, through the portrayal of characters from Mythology.

According to Indian Mythology, “TRIDEVI” is a concept in Hinduism combining a triad of eminent goddesses who are the embodiment of Knowledge, Power and Prosperity.

Saraswathi is the goddess of learning, arts & cultural fulfillment. She empowers cosmic Intelligence, consciousness and wisdom.

Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth & fertility. Lakshmi signifies abstract prosperity, such as good luck, exaltation and glory.

Shakti, or Durga, is the goddess of power, beauty, love, & spiritual fulfillment. She is the energy that manifests in living beings.

NSOD’s Dance Drama “TRIDEVI”, brings forth the aspects of each goddess and how they are relevant and significant to mankind. We will also witness the great power that is brought forth, when the three Devi forms combine to destroy vanity, ego, and negative energy to signify the triumph of good over evil.
