Join Greenville’s leading Easter tradition–the annual Living Gallery–to celebrate 25 years of commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As director and playwright for the inaugural Living Gallery in 1998, Jeffrey Stegall and David Burke have collaborated on a re-visioning of that first-ever Living Gallery play. This fresh adaptation incorporates new scenes and characters for encouraging a pandemic-weary 21st-century audience and focuses on Jesus’ injunction: “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
The play shadows the early followers of Jesus between His crucifixion and reappearance. Through the darkest days Jesus’ disciples discover the wonderful miracle of the resurrection.
The program will include powerful, Gospel-focused music and iconic Living Gallery works of art such as Rembrandt’s The Storm on the Sea of Galilee and The Three Crosses, Da Vinci’s The Last Supper, modern sculptor Max Greiner’s Divine Servant, and the pinnacle of sculptor Adam Lenckhardt’s career, the magnificent ivory Descent from the Cross. In addition, two paintings from M&G’s collection are also featured, Francois de Troy’s Christ and the Samaritan Woman and Benjamin West’s Ascension. We trust this year’s Living Gallery: Through the Darkest Day will be a blessing and encouragement during this Easter season of celebration!
