The Cider, Wine & Dine Weekend features Henderson County wineries and cideries partnering together to create a signature weekend filled with all things cider, wine and food-related! Activities for the weekend include, of course, enjoying local artisan hard cider, wines and mead, plus lots of food, fire pits, movies, live music, production facility tours, and much more.

Steve’s hip caused him to miss his slot in the Heritage Green Music Fall Season–thanks to his former student, Matt Dingledine, the show went on but, now, hip replaced–yeah, he’s hip again!–his trio, with Greg Alewine on base, Brendan Williamson on piano, with vocals by Jamey Wright will fill the Carolina Music Museum with jazz from the great American Songbook on Friday night, April 26 at 7:30. Morgan Geer, the songwriter behind Drunken Prayer, is the current guitar player for iconic alt-country goths, Freakwater. He’s recently been touring internationally solo with The Handsome Family.
Morgan was born in San Francisco and grew up traveling around the US, following his folk-singing mother. Today he splits time between Portland, OR and Asheville, NC. He’s lived in nearly every region of the country and sounds like it. His is American music – straight, no irony chaser.
Drunken Prayer will likely bring to mind The Band for a lot of listeners, with the sense of place and history. But Morgan Geer’s songs and his singing often suggest a kinship with artists like Bobby Charles or Doug Sahm, musicians with Southern roots, with a yip and break to their voices, and notes of sadness offset by a wicked sense of humor.
Over the past two years Drunken Prayer has played hundreds of shows across 18 countries and across the US at venues such as the Pickathon Music Festival and San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. Geer’s music has been featured on AMC, NPR, WFMU and SiriusXM.
The new Drunken Prayer album, Cordelia Elsewhere, was mixed by Mitch Easter (Let’s Active, REM) at The Fidelitorium in rural North Carolina. A maverick descendant of outlaw country, this album bears witness to life on earth in uncertain times.

Bio:
Matt Walsh is a singer, guitarist and songwriter from Statesville NC who performs solo or with his backup band around 200 shows a year throughout the southeast and beyond. His sound is influenced by anyone from Link Wray, Howlin’ Wolf, Prince, Black Sabbath or Pete Rock among many other musicians and styles of music. His primary focus is making original music and mixing his roots with new ideas rather than replicating them. The result reflects an exciting blend of many genres of music – early electric and hill country Blues, Rock, Rockabilly, Soul, Country, Garage Rock, Hip-Hop and Psychedelia among others. His exposure to music came first came from his mother through her love of Motown. In his youth, he was fascinated with various types of music and was always anxious when he heard a sound that was different or foreign to his ear. When he was 9 his mother took him to a Prince concert and Matt knew he wanted to be a musician.
