Something extraordinary is coming to Asheville this winter! The North Carolina Arboretum and Explore Asheville are elated to announce the arrival of Trolls: A Field Study. Visiting on their first North American excursion, these twelve interactive troll sculptures will explore the Arboretum, embarking on a curious journey to learn about humankind.

Produced by Imagine in collaboration with Danish artist Thomas Dambo, these friendly and fanciful sculptures evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue as they study our small, intricate and inventive ways of life in Western North Carolina. Standing seven to nine feet tall and lovingly described by the artist as “Baby Trolls”, the creatures are crafted from materials like fallen branches, wooden pallets and twigs.

Through their observations, the trolls reveal a fresh perspective on what makes us human, sparking curiosity and laughter in visitors of all ages.

Only cost is the parking fee. No other admission fees.

On exhibit Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m., Rocky Cove Railroad is a G-Scale (garden scale) model train that demonstrates the coming of trains to western North Carolina at the turn of the 20th century. The exhibit is located below the Grand Promenade. Please note, Rocky Cove Railroad will not operate in rainy or wet conditions.

A Noël Affair is an evening of elevated celebration. Guests are invited to embrace elegant attire—jeans, t-shirts, athletic wear, and casual clothing are not permitted. Cocktail dresses, gowns, tailored suits, and refined evening wear are the essence of the celebration.

Of course there will be seasonal favorites, but at a Christmas Pops Concert, you never can tell what else will happen or what exciting guests will show up. Fun and great music for the whole family.

The US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots will be in attendance. Please bring a new toy to tonight’s concert to help a child enjoy Christmas this year.

Join us at the reception following the concert and get to know the musicians over food and conversation. Concert, reception and parking – absolutely FREE!

Empower Hours take place twice a month on the first and third Tuesday at 11:30 am.
