Michelin Guide Expands to the South

For the first time, the Michelin Guide is coming to the American South, and that includes Greenville, SC.

Michelin, in partnership with Travel South USA, recently announced its newest regional edition will spotlight restaurants across seven Southern states: Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

This marks the first regional selection in Michelin’s North American history, allowing the prestigious guide to explore beyond major metropolitan areas and highlight the full scope of Southern cuisine.

Greenville does not yet have a Michelin-starred restaurant, but the city continues to gain national recognition for its growing food scene. Southern Living recently ranked Greenville among the “South’s Best Cities on the Rise” and praised it as a top foodie destination, highlighting everything from craft breweries to fine dining with inventive, locally inspired menus.

Anonymous Michelin inspectors are already dining their way across the South, and Greenville’s chefs and restaurateurs are officially on their radar. The 2025 selection of restaurants will be revealed later this year during the inaugural Michelin Guide ceremony for the region.
