Just in time for summer, Greenville has been recognized as a must-visit barbecue destination.
Ranked the No. 6 barbecue city in the United States, Greenville stood right behind fellow South Carolina city Charleston.
“Greenville shines in its dedication to traditional BBQ and Western South Carolina styles,” the ranking on Yelp reads.
Local ‘cue haunts, Henry’s Smokehouse was singled out for their Texas-style brisket, as well as Mike & Jeff’s BBQ for their regional sauces. Greenville was hailed for its area’s variety of barbecue.
“The city’s BBQ experience is further enhanced with seriously good versions of homemade side dishes like mac and cheese, collard greens and cornbread, which add to the comforting, down-home feel of its local restaurants,” the review concludes.
To note: Lewis Barbecue, mentioned for its Charleston location, also maintains a restaurant in Greenville.
