City of Greenville to Host Pedestrian Safety Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 11th

The City of Greenville is hosting a Pedestrian Safety Study update open house on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Prisma Health Welcome Center in Unity Park.

City staff and consultants will be available to discuss their work during this drop-in style meeting.

The City of Greenville has partnered with Stantec Consulting Services to study pedestrian safety and develop a plan that reduces the number of crashes and near misses involving pedestrians.

This study focuses on high-volume corridors and school zones and will provide the basis for prioritization and implementation of safety measures. It will also pinpoint proactive steps that will improve pedestrian safety and result in a prioritized list of project recommendations.

At the project’s inception, the City of Greenville used an interactive map and survey to invite residents to identify areas where walking is safe and unsafe. More than 1,000 responses were received. The city also hosted a drop-in style open house in May 2022 where city staff and the project consultants shared information about the project and residents could ask questions and provide feedback.
