City of Greenville Names New Deputy City Manager

Brandon Madden has been named Deputy City Manager of the City of Greenville, effective this summer.

Madden currently serves as the City Administrator for the City of Mauldin. He has held the position since December 2018 and is responsible for implementing the City Council’s goals, objectives and policies. Madden managed a budget of more than $42 million and oversaw 205 employees.

“The City of Greenville is vibrant, growing and deeply engaged with its citizens,” Madden said. “I am impressed by the City’s professional approach to serving residents and am eager to assist in providing excellence customer service. I am grateful to the City of Mauldin. It has a bright future and will thrive under the leadership of a strong council and dedicated staff.”

Madden’s career in public service began in 2006 and includes time with the North Carolina Department of Justice and Richland County. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from North Carolina Central University.

Greenville City Manager John McDonough said, “I am enthused by his breadth of experience, commitment to customer service and results oriented approach. Brandon will be a great addition to the City’s senior leadership team.”

Madden replaces Eden Freeman, who left her position in Greenville to become City Manager of Sandy Springs, Georgia.
