Meals on Wheels of Greenville recently celebrated fifty years of service to homebound individuals and seniors in Greenville County.
The occasion was marked by a press conference where both City of Greenville and Greenville County representatives presented Meals on Wheels will proclamations honoring fifty years. Founder and former executive director June Durham was also a part of the celebration.
“As we look to the next fifty years, it’s going to take every single one of us to continue serving the homebound and seniors in Greenville County,” said Catriona Carlisle, Executive Director at Meals on Wheels of Greenville. “We encourage everyone to think about how they can get involved—volunteer your time, make a gift or refer someone who needs our services—and together we can continue to make an impact in our community for years to come.”
In addition to the press conference, the celebrations included a volunteer breakfast drop-in and a reception in downtown Greenville.
Meals on Wheels enhances the quality of life of homebound individuals and seniors by providing nutritious meals, personal interaction and independence. Each day, caring volunteers deliver nearly 1,500 hot, nutritious meals to homebound individuals throughout Greenville County.
