Eugenia Duke Pedestrian Bridge Closure

The bridge behind the Peace Center and the steps leading to Main Street will be closed through Friday. The temporary closure will allow crews to install a new sluice gate at the Reedy River step falls.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed and the bridge and steps reopened by the end of the day on Friday. Pedestrian access along Japanese Dogwood Lane will be maintained and detour signs will be posted.

The Eugenia Duke pedestrian bridge is named after the creator of Duke’s Mayonnaise and the founder of Duke Sandwich Company. In 1923, Eugenia Duke opened a mayonnaise bottling production by the Reedy River in downtown Greenville.
