Our mission at the REAL Academy is to equip social workers with the tools and confidence to make good decisions in child welfare cases. Specific age requirements and casting information for each show are posted above. No roles have been pre-cast unless otherwise specifically stated in the audition notice. Youth of all ethnicities and backgrounds are encouraged to audition.
ETIQUETTE: Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out any necessary information sheets. You will audition in the order that you arrive. Make sure to wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable to move around in.
PREPARATION: For non-musicals, all auditionees are required to prepare a 1 minute monologue for the audition. If you do not have a monologue, one will be provided for you at the audition. Monologues will also be available prior to auditions at the Spartanburg Youth Theatre offices.
For musicals, all auditionees are required to prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song for the audition. Please bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. If you do not have a song, one will be provided for you at the audition.
WHERE: All auditions are held at the Chapman Cultural Center Youth Theatre Classroom at 200 E. St. John Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina, 29306.

This small company of pre-professional actors in 8th-12th grades meets weekly at Flat Rock Playhouse for advanced training and rehearsals as they dive into the development of theatrical work incorporating acting, singing, and dance.
Auditions will be held by appointment only on Wednesday, December 8 between 5 – 8 PM.
Please email [email protected] with the subject line “Teen Ensemble Auditions” to reserve a 5-minute audition slot. Students must prepare 16-32 bars (approximately 1 minute) of a song. Students may sing a cappella or bring sheet music for the Studio 52 accompanist. Once your appointment time is reserved, more information will be sent regarding audition location and logistics.
Selected actors are expected to attend all classes and rehearsals. Please read about our COVID Safety Guidelines here. All students will be contacted via email by Friday, December 17 about final casting decisions.
