Apr 28 @ 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Soul Yoga

Join Katherine Amidon and assistant Joe Thompson for a 60-minute Power Flow featuring the music of Josh White!

Josh White was a blues musician and civil rights activist who was born and raised right here in Greenville, SC. He was the first African-American to have a million-selling record, the first black artist to give a command performance at the White House, and was famous for his civil rights songs. One of our own assistants, artist Joe Thompson, was commissioned by a group called the Committee to Commemorate Josh White to create a sculpture for this purpose.

The project is administrated through the Community Foundation and is partially funded through the city but mostly the money has been raised through foundations and individual donations. This is our chance to help contribute to that fund!

Suggested donation: $10 Cash Donation.

Bardic Alchemy at Triskelion
Apr 30 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Triskelion Brewing Company

We’ve been talking to the folks from Bardic Alchemy, a Celtic Rock band from Asheville and they’ve agreed to play at Triskelion as many Tuesdays as they can come down to the Brewery.

Bardic Alchemy is a brand new element in the Celtic Rock world. This trio, based in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina is comprised of multi-instrumentalist Connell Sanderson, guitarist Nick Marcone and percussionist and vocalist Tyler Watts.

Bardic Alchemy is best described as a psychedelic trip into a musical world that is heavily inspired by the Celtic musical traditions…run through various effects pedals. Everything from soothing, mellifluously reverberating whistle melodies supported by groovy guitar lines and thumping djembe beats to high energy dance tunes on the Scottish and Irish pipes to three part vocal harmonies and even improvised pieces, Bardic Alchemy is a surprisingly dynamic and unpredictable musical journey.

So… Tuesdays… will now be…

Celtic Rock Tuesday!

Limestone College Chorus
Spring Concert Set For April 30:

The Limestone College Chorus will host its spring concert “All About Love” on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. inside Fullerton Auditorium.

Admission into the concert is free and the public is invited to attend.

The concert will be conducted by Professor of Choral/Vocal Music Education Dr. Gena Poovey, and she will be accompanied by Professor of Music Dr. David B. Thompson. The concert will also feature Jim Simmons on piano and Stacy Wiley on violin.

Selections will include compositions by Haydn, Brahms, Whitacre, and Chopin, as well as arrangements of American folk tunes such as “Shenandoah,” popular tunes such as “Uptown Girl” and “Please Mr. Postman,” and “Love Changes Everything” from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway show “Aspects of Love.”

“If you have enjoyed the times that our chorus members have sung out in the community, such as at ball games, at church events, and especially through our Singing Valentines, then you will love our spring concert because it’s certainly ‘All About Love,’” Poovey said. “It’s about Love of God, love of country, love of family, love of children, love of music, and love of one another.”

In addition to Limestone students, members of the community who will be joining them represent Circle of Grace Lutheran Chapel, First Baptist Church of Gaffney, First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, Grassy Pond Baptist Church, and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Spring Concert Series ~ Foxfire Revival
May 3 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
South Carolina Botanical Garden

Unwind from the week with great music in a beautiful setting! Concerts start at 7 p.m. in the Garden Amphitheater. Admission is free, and concessions from Palmetto’s Smokehouse and Oyster Bar are available for purchase starting at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, May 3 Foxfire Revival ~ Foxfire Revival is a four-piece folk outfit with an Appalachian stringband feel that brings a variety of sounds from traditional instruments such as harmonica, banjo, mandolin, and cello. Motivated by the spirit of the Foxfire series of North Georgia, the Athens-based band was born in 2016 out of a weekly gathering of friends seeking to revive certain old-fashioned crafts from times gone by. Together these friends – Austin Hall, Jordan Burbage, David Henry, and Brock Beisel – seek to celebrate and share with others their collective love for adventure, a good story, and Appalachian culture through the music they create. Foxfire Revival takes cues from the likes of Mipso, Nickel Creek, The Avett Brothers, and Gregory Alan Isakov.

Cinco De Mayo Festival Fiesta 2019
May 4 @ 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Morgan Square

Mezcal is proud to host its second annual Cinco de Mayo Festival. This year’s fiesta will be held in downtown Spartanburg, SC on Morgan on May 4th, 2019 from noon to 10pm.

Once again, we look forward to sharing with our Hub City some of Mexico’s traditions. Including, of course, an authentic Mexican cuisine for a full experience of Cinco de Mayo. Local academy performers, orchestras, and bands are just a few of the events that Mezcal is eager to share.

Mezcal is more than excited to be hosting this fiesta once again that will transport each and every one of its guests to a mini Mexico full of music, food, dance, and endless smiles.

During the first annual Cinco de Mayo Festival in 2018, Mezcal Taberna Mexicana hosted approximately 6,000 guests. We hope to overwhelm lasts years attendance and overall experience in a fiesta you won’t want to miss.
