On Friday, June 14th, local artists came to MAC to have their surfaces stamped with the Flat Out Under Pressure logo. 24 hours later on Saturday, June 15th, 107 artists returned with completed works of art. The art was then juried and hung as an exhibit.
The 8 winners will have their artwork featured on the 8 downtown recycling bins next year!
Come see an entire exhibit created in just 24 hours! The show will be up at MAC through July 26th.

Two public and free bowl-making sessions will held at Converse College in Spartanburg Saturday, July 13, 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. in the Milliken Fine Arts Building. The public is invited to make hand-shaped clay bowls that will be used in a fundraiser to raise money to help stop hunger in Spartanburg. This is a wonderful grassroots event for the family, creative people, and people who want to make the world a better place. No special talent needed. All supplies and instruction are provided at no cost.

All the proceeds from table sales ($25) will go our friend Hyatt Hendricks and his wife Brittney to help them with the costs associated with Hyatt’s cancer treatments.
Bake Sale – All proceeds will go to the Hendricks family, donations are also welcome and greatly appreciated.
Rent a space for $25 to sell your collection of art, comics, toys, board games, RPG’s, costumes, or other pop culture items. Some tables may be outside under the awning weather permitting others will be inside on the gaming tables. Due to space limitations you can only use the table that you purchase, no racks or additional tables will be allowed. Some tables may be accessible from all sides.
Limited Space Available! We also encourage you to bring your own chair so you’re comfortable, but we will have a limited number of tables and chairs until they run out.
Setup starts at 9 am and the event goes through 4 pm so please plan to stay for the duration of the event.

Are you ready to see what Spartanburg, the hub city of the Upstate has to offer? Join us as we eat our way through the town. Spartanburg has so many delicious vegan options all across the city! On this tour you will enjoy some delicious breakfast options, lunch items, donuts and ice cream! Our fantastic Registered Dietitian will come along to talk about the nutrition impact of the items and answer your questions along the way. Wear some great walking shoes, we will walk a minimum of one mile on the tour.

The tour will take place rain or shine. Midway through the tour we will explore a community garden and play some miniature golf.

Bring your yoga mats to Bold Rock for a mindful way to begin your Saturday! Get your “ohm” on a local trainer and yoga instructor as she leads a fun and playful yoga session. This class is open to all levels of yoga experience for a $5 suggested donation!

Join us at Ethos Combatives for a special LGBTQ self defense class. The class is free of charge, with a suggested donation of $10. A portion of all donations will benefit PFLAG Spartanburg. Pre-registration is required. Age range is 12 and up. Classes will take place the second Saturday of each month for as long as there is sufficient attendance. Wadette Cantrell is the primary coach and she may be accompanied by a second instructor as attendance requires.

Coach Wadette Cantrell will cover basic safety procedures as well as self defense based on Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Gracie Jiu Jitsu was brought to the United States by the Gracie Family. Carlson and Helio Gracie developed this martial art on the basis that a smaller, weaker person can effectively defend themselves against a larger and stronger opponent. This self defense empowerment program will provide you with proven techniques of self defense; we will cover standing defenses as well as defenses from the ground.

On exhibit Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m., Rocky Cove Railroad is a G-Scale (garden scale) model train that demonstrates the coming of trains to western North Carolina at the turn of the 20th century. The exhibit is located below the Grand Promenade. Please note, Rocky Cove Railroad will not operate in rainy or wet conditions.
