P.L.U.R.
Peace, love, unity and respect. The four pillars of the rave scene. United like holy Tetris blocks to form the foundation of our culture’s core values.
Music was the heart of the scene ranging from trance, breakbeat, house, drum and bass, to many others.
And who could forget the fashion?! Giant clothes, either b-boy style, candy raver to groovy dance floor diva.
Greenville had a strong rave scene in the 90s. Everyone knew everyone. Many talented DJs emerged and lit up parties in all corners of Greenville. You may have been part of it, or maybe you weren’t born yet. Either way, 90s rave culture opened the doors for the EDM culture and festivals you see today.

Calling All Artists…
Here’s your chance to step out of the box and present your most creative, most interesting, most out-there art for the world to see. The first ever “Spartanburg Fringe Festival” will be June 1-29 at West Main Artists Co-op. It will be a month of unusual and unique performances, the experimental, the quirky, the not-average. Dance, theatre, music, film, comedy, spoken word, readings, solos, groups, short and long works, the undefinable. There’s even a little room for some out-of-the-ordinary visual art. This is a work in progress, so talk to us. Let us know what you want to perform or exhibit. But you must apply by April 15. All it takes is a quick email to Sandy Staggs. See details online at SpartanburgFringeFestival.com.

According to the Washington Post, he’s also the “most interesting mayor you’ve never heard of.”
He’s Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, IN., and he’ll be joining us for breakfast on Saturday, March 23.
Greenville is his first stop on his first trip to South Carolina since he announced his presidential exploratory committee. After breakfast, he’ll canvass with state Senate 6 candidate Tina Belge. And then head for stops in Columbia and Rock Hill.
