Borderlands Warmahordes Journeyman League
Feb 14 @ 11:00 am – 10:00 pm
Borderlands Comics and Games

It’s time for a Journeyman League! This league will start on January 10th and will end with a tournament on February 16th!

Entry fee is $15, and will include entry into the end of league tournament!

I am very happy to say that we are combining this league with the Journeyman League that will be running at the same time in Charlotte, NC! Games between players from both areas are fully legal for league points!

As we are not using the standard Journeyman rules, please look at the following links for rules and scoring sheets!

Flames of War – Firestorm Stalingrad
Feb 14 @ 11:00 am – 10:00 pm
Borderlands Comics and Games

Bring your 109 point MidWar list and fight for control of the area around Stalingrad. Or, you can bring a 50 point list and fight for control of the city itself using the city-fighting rules found in Iron Cross and Enemy at the Gates

Each time a player attacks, they place a marker on the map; once all the markers have been used, the campaign is over and the side with the most victory points wins.

Unlike previous campaigns the winner is not solely determined by taking sectors, or areas. This time players will need to be mindful of what is happening inside Stalingrad itself!

By capturing the city, a defeated side may be able to swing the final result, potentially turning a defeat into victory!

It is futile breaking the German 6th Army if the remaining troops inside the city have turned it into Fortress Stalingrad, dug in and prepared to hold off any attacking Soviet force…

Join us for three fun filled turns running from February 14th to March 14th.

Julie Valentine Luncheon
Feb 14 @ 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Greenville Convention Center

Join us on February 14th for the 9th Annual Julie Valentine Center Luncheon presented by North American Rescue to hear the remarkable story of an amazing man. Sasha Joseph Neulinger, travels nationally as a public speaker, advocating for reforms in child advocacy and child abuse prevention. Sasha’s 2015 TEDxBozeman presentation “Trauma Is Irreversible. How It Shapes Us Is Our Choice” has since been viewed nearly 200,000 times to date. Neulinger’s transformative journey of learning to confront his past and learn to love and embrace every part of himself included telling his friends and loved ones what happened to him, and experiencing the love and acceptance that eluded him for so long.

A renowned speaker, filmmaker and advocate, Sasha is the founder and President of Voice For The Kids, LLC and the co-founder and Head of Production at Step 1 Films, LLC. He has worked behind the scenes on National Geographic’s award winning series, “America, The Wild” as an assistant editor and has produced, directed, and edited films for corporate and non-profit clients nationally. He is currently directing his first feature length documentary, “Rewind To Fast-Forward,” an autobiographical film about his life surviving multigenerational child sexual abuse.

Proceeds from the event will aid the Julie Valentine Center’s efforts to provide healing services to victims of child abuse and sexual assault in Greenville and Pickens Counties while increasing awareness and promoting prevention of these issues. The Julie Valentine Center counts on the love and the support of the community at the annual Valentine’s Day fundraising luncheon to help men, women, girls and boys take the courageous step in ending the cycle of abuse and rebuilding their lives. 2,600 members of our community took this important step last year with the help of the Julie Valentine Center.

Tickets are available at https://www.julievalentinecenter.org/2019-luncheon-registration.html

Reserved tables for 10 are $750. General admission tickets $65 each. Sponsorships also available.

Live Photography Workshop at Luke Combs Concert
Feb 14 @ 2:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Bon Secours Wellness Arena

Have you ever wanted to photograph a live concert next to the band’s tour photographer, right in the photo pit?

David Bergman is now making this once-in-a-lifetime photography experience a reality. Spend the afternoon backstage learning the “tricks of the trade” that he has picked up during his 25+ years as a working professional photographer. Then shoot the show that evening from unique locations around the venue including inside the photo pit, where your hands will touch the stage and you’ll feel the power of 15,000 screaming fans behind you.

The day starts at 2pm, when you’ll meet backstage at the arena. While the crew is setting up for that night’s show, you’ll learn everything you need to know about concert photography including proper photo gear, nailing exposures in changing lighting conditions, the photo business, setting up remote cameras, how to work with the crew and celebrities, and so much more. You’ll also get a peek at the tour buses and scout the venue to make a plan for that evening’s shoot. Right before the show, you’ll eat dinner with the crew at backstage catering and when the music starts, you’ll get to make pictures from inside the photo pit next to the stage! You’ll be side by side with David, constantly looking for unique angles that no one else can get. You’ll go home with lots of powerful images and an experience you’ll never forget.

You will live the life of a working tour photographer, and this is a rare opportunity to learn from one of the best in the business. David Bergman has traveled the world with Bon Jovi and his work has been published on album covers, billboards, and in nearly every major magazine. He has made portraits of artists including 50 Cent, Jared Leto, and Pete Wentz, and shot tour photos for Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies, Avril Lavigne, and Gloria Estefan.

There are only five spots per concert and they will go quickly. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to “Shoot From the Pit!”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• What time does the workshop start/end?
The workshops start at 2:00pm local time and ends at 11:00pm.

• Do I need to buy a separate concert ticket?
No. We have made arrangements for you to have a photo pass for the show and you will be shooting pictures all night long.

• What about lodging, meals, and transportation?
You are responsible for getting yourself to and from the venue and no lodging is provided. Dinner is provided by the tour at backstage catering. Water is always available and it’s recommended that you bring snacks if you think you’ll need them throughout the day.

• Where do I park, how do I get into the venue, and where do I go?
Each venue is different and you will be sent all relevant meeting information the day before the show. Be aware that some venues will charge for parking and you are responsible for that cost. If you haven’t received an email by 6pm the night before your concert, check your spam folder or contact us for assistance.

• Will we get to hang out with the musicians?
No. There is no “meet and greet” with the artists. Some bands offer a “VIP experience” that can be purchased with a concert ticket. If that’s what you’re looking for, then you should buy that instead of attending this workshop. However, if you’re looking to improve your photography skills and want the incredible experience of shooting a concert from the photo pit, then this workshop is for you!

• What if I’m not a fan of the band?
You will be learning photo techniques that can be applied to any show and many other styles of photography. Most concert photographers will tell you that they don’t even “hear” the music when they’re shooting a show. They’re too busy looking at the lighting and camera angles.

• Do I need to bring my own camera?
Yes. A DSLR is preferred and lenses with f/2.8 or f/4 minimum apertures will help you get the best images, but the minimum requirement is that your camera can go into manual exposure mode. Camera phones won’t cut it and will not be allowed in the photo pit. ** Canon USA and Canon Professional Services (CPS) is generously providing some high-end gear for your use. You may not have access to the Canon gear for the entire show, as you’ll be sharing it with the other attendees. But it’s a good opportunity to feel what it’s like to shoot with the highest quality equipment.

• Should I bring my computer?
If you’d like to start editing your photos on site, then bring a laptop. David will assist you with the editing process after you shoot the opening acts. Make sure you bring a card reader to copy your images. David uses Photo Mechanic to edit and highly recommends it for high volume concert photos. You can download the 30-day free trial before the workshop. You can also choose to learn from watching his process if you prefer to leave your computer at home.

• Do I need to be an experienced photographer?
No, all skill levels are welcome, although you should have at least the desire to learn about manual exposure mode on your camera.

• Is there an age limitation?
Photographers must be 18 or older to attend.

• What’s your refund policy?
Due to the exclusive nature and small size of this workshop, it is 100% non-refundable. At the end of the day, we are human beings, so if you have a major issue, contact us for assistance. If the workshop is cancelled for any reason, you will be issued a full refund.
