Hustle Souls Live at Triskelion
Jun 8 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Triskelion Brewing Company

Once upon a time in the budding music-mecca of Asheville, NC, a man with a trumpet, an acoustic guitar and a mission metamorphosed into the synergistic soul/indie-pop band, Hustle Souls. With 2 ½ years of touring under their belt, the band’s feel-good, modern meets vintage sound, have earned them a reputation as one of the region’s most promising independent acts.

Lead singer and keyboardist, Billy Litz’s rootsy influences and vulnerable compositions are embroidered, garnished, and decked out by a powerhouse soul band. The rhythm section, Tommy Moore and Sean McCann aggressively usher in a tight jazz and R&B influence, while guitarist, Chris Everett, brings the group to the next level with his rock-ribbed feel.

In 2017 the band was approached by gold and platinum mixer and producer Eric “Mixerman” Sarafin (Ben Harper, the Broadcast, Pharcyde) about making a record which has set the ball rolling at a different pace. Hustle Souls’ eclectic sound will soon come together on their debut full-length album, “Color.”

West Main Artists Cooperative

Spartanburg Fringe Arts Festival is a new summer festival in Upstate South Carolina that celebrates the creativity of those usually considered to be on the “fringe” of polite society. Throughout the month, we will present dozens of shows, exhibits, and events in theatre, music, dance, comedy, spoken word, film, and progressive thinking.

Headlining will be writer, director, producer Del Shores, the bad boy of Sordid Lives; Fun Home, a Tony-winning Broadway musical; House of Mann, mind-blowing and gender-bending fashions; and Rev. Jim Dant, a nationally recognized thought-leader in Christian acceptance of alternative lifestyles.

There will also be an art exhibit and regional performing artists in theatre, music, and literature.

Men’s & Women’s Open are battling over a $1,500 1st place & $750 2nd place cash prize. *Minimum 16 teams in each division to qualify for maximum payout.*

As with all ADV tourneys, your registration fee also includes sports drink, water and lunch. Burgers and dogs will be going on the grill, along with other snacks.

You are welcome to bring your own cooler as well. Etowah River Park is a no alcohol facility so please don’t let us see you with it.

Key Deadlines & Things to Note:

1. Registration Deadlines – It is really hard to plan around last minute entries, so we have incentives in place to register early.

Register & Pay before May 13 – $35/player ($40/player in Open)
Register & Pay from May 13 through June 2 = $40/player ($45/player in Open)
Register & Pay June 2 or after = $45/player ($50/player in Open)

2. T-shirt Deadlines – Every player will get a tournament t-shirt in the size you choose…but you have to register by May 24th at midnight Eastern time!

If you register after May 24th at midnight Eastern time you will not get a tournament shirt with your registration.

Now that Dragon Slayer is as large of a tournament as it is, we just can’t manage the logistics of various shirts styles, or accommodate those that register after the t-shirt deadline. We will be working with our t-shirt vendor to make a limited quantity of styles available for sale for anyone that misses the deadline.

3. Coed Quads on Saturday – Just like in past years, we have added a different format on Saturday for those that would rather play coed 4’s. There is an Open/A division and a BB/B division. As always, you are expected to register in the division equal to that of your best player. No Sandbagging!

Registration is open on our web site here: https://angrydragonvolleyball.com/signup
*There are different registration forms for doubles and quads on Saturday, so please make sure to find the right one.*

8:00am – Player Check-In Opens
8:45am – Players Meeting
9:00am – Play starts for all divisions

We are REALLY excited about another year back on the natural grass and look forward to all of you joining us to make this year the best one yet!

More soon,
The Knuckleheads at ADV

Furman University Band and Orchestra Camp
Jun 9 @ 10:00 am – Jun 14 @ 4:00 pm
Furman University Music News

Sunday, June 9 – Friday, June 14, 2019

Furman’s Band and Orchestra Camp is an intensive one-week experience designed to encourage 260 students, ages 12-18, to fuel their musical enthusiasm and boost their playing skills. Talented musicians from across the country come to Furman with expectations of taking their performance skills to the next level. Students are challenged in vigorous daily rehearsals, musicianship classes, and master classes. Students perform in one of four large ensembles (a full symphony orchestra, a string orchestra, and two concert bands) and may audition for a jazz ensemble, various chamber groups, or perform as a soloist on the Honors Solo Recital. The evening recitals and the Friday concert are open to the public. In addition to the ensemble rehearsals, the camp offers classes in basic musicianship, optional
private lessons and daily recreational activities, all within the beautiful setting of the Furman University campus.

We strongly urge you to add private lessons to the camp experience. They are an ideal way to work one-on-one with an experienced musician on the fundamentals of playing, including tone production, technique, maintenance and musicianship. Content is personalized for the student’s playing level. Lessons are $35 per 30 minute session.
