Wildflowers springing from the ground are a sign that spring and warmer weather are right around the corner. A new temporary exhibit titled “Dressing for the Occasion: Mid-Century Sandburg as Celebrity and Family Man” opens on May 13, 2019. The exhibit, which runs through October, is part of the Sandburg Home tour and features clothing and accessories from both the park’s permanent collection and loaned items from the Sandburg family.
“Dressing for the Occasion” offers visitors a window into the style, culture, and feel of mid-century America. The family’s clothing and accessories weave together the roles of Carl Sandburg as a prominent writer, celebrity, father, and husband. This temporary exhibit offers an exciting opportunity for the public to view objects that are normally in storage or in the possession of Sandburg family members. Tours of the Sandburg Home are offered daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Tickets are available first come, first served, each day from the visitor information area in the ground level of the Sandburg Home.
Nearly every room in the historically furnished house museum will be included in the exhibit. Visitors will see the characteristic scarves Carl Sandburg wore as he played his guitar and sang folk songs to entertain his family and guests, the dress Lilian Sandburg wore to meet President Lyndon B. Johnson, and many other mid-century pieces worn by the Sandburgs and their daughters. Historic photographs, paired with the clothing, will provide context.

An exhibition of youth art titled “Let a Joy Keep You,” is on display from April 1 to May 31, 2019. The inspiration for the art comes from the first line of Carl Sandburg’s poem “Joy.” Each of the 70 canvases reflects how the young artists chose to interpret what joy means to them. Visitors can see the installation at the Sandburg Home when they visit. Young artists are represented from across the country and locally, including students from Sugarloaf Elementary School in Hendersonville, NC.

Primary Series Sundays
Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic method of choreographed sequences of yoga postures linked with breath and concentration techniques. In a Led Primary Series class, the teacher calls out the postures and vinyasa (counted movements linking the postures with the breath) of the Ashtanga Primary Series. Primary Series is known for its therapeutic benefits of building strength, flexibility and endurance as well as detoxifying and aligning the body. This class is a focused, highly energetic class recommended for students with some yoga experience.

Greenville, SC : A new event in Greenville starts Sunday, May 19th from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. It transforms Indexx Printing parking lot into a lively, open-air market featuring unique vendors and food. The market is open to the public and free to attend.
The outdoor market serves as a venue for local entrepreneurs to highlight their products and services in a family-friendly, festive atmosphere.
Starting March 3rd, join us every Sunday for Re-Brew-Venation Yoga with Mary-Ladd Watts Yonkman and Jimmy Caldwell. Mary-Ladd and Jimmy will alternate teaching an hour long class to get your day going from 11am – 12pm. The class costs $10 and includes a drink from our brunch menu.

Join us for our monthly Jazz Brunch Series with the Firecracker Jazz Band and Culture SHOCK Food Truck! This series runs April – October. Hope you can join us!
In hundreds of performances since 2003, Firecracker Jazz Band has played everywhere from street corners, speakeasies, jazz festivals from coast to coast, beer-soaked dance halls, Bonaroo and the Kennedy Center. Based in the beautiful confluence of plentiful music and majestic mountains that is Asheville, N.C., a performance by Firecracker Jazz Band is not to be missed. With jubilant vigor that spills from the stage to the streets, these six musicians revitalize traditional jazz with unbounded energy. In paying homage to the pioneers of early 20th Century Jazz, including that of Dixieland and New Orleans, Firecracker Jazz Band carries the torch that was once lit by such greats as Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong & Bix Beiderbecke.
So bring your dancing shoes and remember: Speak Easy, Dance Hard.

Our Pastor, Pastor Bunty Desor, Th.D., a former Muslim, drug addict and ex-con presents the scriptures in practical, relevant way encouraging others to walk in liberty and in their divine destiny.
