Sounds of the Heart with Mandy Harvey
Apr 18 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Charleston Music Hall

Join us for a wonderful evening of music at the beautiful Charleston Music Hall to benefit the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation. The student chorus will be performing with Mandy Harvey, the deaf vocalist, known for winning the Golden Buzzer and becoming a finalist on America’s Got Talent.

And we are so excited to announce that John Tecklenburg will be our emcee! It will be an amazing evening!

The Foundation’s mission is to deliver a top-quality, special education environment with a continual investment in new forms of advanced learning, and new methods of delivery. The SC School for the Deaf and the Blind serves more than 250 students at their Spartanburg campus and more than 1,400 children through statewide outreach programs.

The foundation is a nonprofit organization supporting the school’s on-campus and outreach programs by raising money to supplement state and federal funding. We’ve contributed more than $15 million to offset the high costs associated with advanced instructional programs, technologies and equipment, capital improvements, and personal student needs. These additional resources are vital in helping the school keep pace with the specific educational needs of children with hearing and sight impairments.

Thank you for partnering with us to support the children.

Canceled Due to Rain ~ Spring Concert Series ~ Rebel Natives
Apr 19 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
South Carolina Botanical Garden

Due to the extreme weather moving through the area, this concert has been canceled. HOWEVER, you can plan to see Rebel Natives as part of our Tuesday’s Tunes & Tastings! They will be performing on May 28th!

Unwind from the week with great music in a beautiful setting! Concerts start at 7 p.m. in the Garden Amphitheater. Admission is free, and concessions from Palmetto’s Smokehouse and Oyster Bar are available for purchase starting at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, April 19 Rebel Natives ~ REBEL NATIVES was formed by lead singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist Corey Oxendine from Anderson SC in 2016 after receiving a request to perform a show at the Carolina Bauernhaus Brewey and Taproom. Oxendine was a local musician who had been frequenting the weekly Open Mic for several months following an approximately 5 year hiatus from music. The initial idea for the group was conceived with the intention of having a rotating lineup that would feature different musicians for every show. This strategy allowed Oxendine the opportunity to work with, network, and feature collaborations with some of the best musicians in the Upstate SC Music Scene. Releasing an early collaborative EP entitled “World of Dreams”, in partnership with Producer Mike Cannon of New Time Travelers Studio, further increased the band’s name and encouraged partnerships with an ever growing group of local and regional musicians and artists. In early March of 2018 Daniel Walters (Strangeamongus, The Mandela Effect) joined Oxendine as the lead guitarist for a two man show quickly becoming the second full time member of the group. Walters addition began a shift in style away from a more punk, grunge, and 90’s alternative sound by bringing in elements of jam band and reggae influences. Towards the end of 2018 the pair was asked by bassist Lee Barwick to sit in on a rehearsal. After a few successful and productive rehearsals the pair decided to offer Barwick the position full time marking an end to the more rotational lineup and deciding to go towards a more traditional band lineup with consistent members and sound. The final member to be added full time was drummer Tim Morse who had played lead guitar on several songs for the group’s second release “A Decent Amount of Self Deprecating Humour” and performed his first show with the group for the new album’s release in March of 2019. The group is set to return to the studio to begin working on additional songs for the Deluxe Edition of “A Decent Amount of Self Deprecating Humour” as well as the band’s third album (first full length album).

Hank Williams: Lost Highway
Apr 19 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Abbeville Opera House

The musical classic “Hank Williams: Lost Highway” is directed by Jimmy O. Burdette. This spectacular musical biography of the legendary singer-songwriter frequently mentioned alongside Louis Armstrong, Robert Johnson, Duke Ellington, Elvis and Bob Dylan as one of the great innovators of American popular music, follows Hank Williams’ rise from his beginnings on the Louisiana Hayride to his triumphs on the Grand Ole Opry to his eventual self-destruction at twenty-nine. Along the way, we are treated to indelible songs like “I’m So Lonesome I Could Die”, “Move It on Over” and “Hey, Good Lookin’,” which are given fresh and profound resonance set in the context of Williams’ life.
