American Liszt Society Festival 2018
Oct 13 @ 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Furman University

Please join us in October for the 2018 American Liszt Society Festival and Conference. The general theme of this Festival is The Poetic Liszt. The festival is dedicated to the exploration of the many aspects of poetry in Franz Liszt’s life and works. His enthusiasm for literature and poetry is openly reflected in mottos and quotes Liszt put in front of numerous works. But this is not where the affiliations end, and we can assume deeper connections between the art forms of literature and music, as represented by this erudite cosmopolitan composer. This will function as a point of departure from whence the festival seeks to shed light on the many guises in which Liszt’s sensitivity to the written word appeared in his compositions.

Highlights will include:
• Epic tales
• The complete early Album d’un voyageur Vol. I
• A special lecture on Chopin by Alan Walker
• The Petrarch Sonnets (with and without words)
• The rarely heard Melodramas
• Liszt organ encounters
• And a lot more…

We are fortunate that Fall for Greenville weekend, a downtown food and music festival, will be happening the same weekend as the 2018 festival. The conference hotel will be downtown by Falls Park, so stick around after the Saturday banquet and enjoy Fall for Greenville hospitality! www.fallforgreenville.net

In the meantime, if you come early, you can visit the newly-opened Carolina Music Museum, with its over 40 English, European, and American pianos and harpsichords dating from
1570 to 1845. www.carolinamusicmuseum.org

Please see below for The American Liszt Society 2018 Festival website. There you will be able to find registration, hotel, and meal information. Come early – stay late! We’ll see you in October!

The Vegabonds at Radio Room w/ Pierce Edens (duo) & Mac Leaphart
Oct 19 @ 8:00 pm – 11:55 pm
The Radio Room

With a sound reminiscent of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers mixed with the grit and twang of the Allman Brothers Band, The Vegabonds give their fans a sensational performance with powerhouse guitar riffs and impactful songwriting night after night. Their hard work and unbridled talents have not gone unnoticed; the group has opened for such notable acts as Lynyrd Skynyrd, the late Gregg Allman, and Kid Rock, among others. Rousing performances at festivals like Peach Fest, Magnolia Fest, Sunfest, and Toadlick grew their notoriety nationwide, leading to a west coast tour that formed in-roads with the music and comedy community in Los Angeles. It’s no wonder that Live for Live Music has compared them to musical legends like My Morning Jacket and The Black Crowes, calling them “a force to be reckoned with,” complete with “gorgeous harmonies and impressive instrumental skills mak[ing] for a perfect combination.”

With their focus on growth, The Vegabonds have much in store for old and new fans alike. Upon returning from their third European tour, the band’s focus will shift to perfecting their highly-anticipated new album, slated for release in early 2018. With a new management and publicity team behind them, their New South Rock sound is destined to reach an even broader audience than ever before. The band is excited to bring in new blood to achieve their overall strategic vision.

Born in Alabama. Bred in Nashville. Seasoned by the Road. Celebrated the world over. Come let your hair down with The Vegabonds.

Bauernaroo! Fundraiser #AtTheBauern
Oct 20 @ 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Carolina Bauernhaus Ales

Bauernaroo!
Fundraising event for Anderson Plays it Forward.
Saturday, October 20
2p-10pm
At the Carolina Bauernhaus Wines and Ales taproom in Downtown Anderson.

21 performers, live music, food, games

“The mission of Anderson Plays it Forward is to make music, music education and musician mentorship accessible equally and to everyone.”

At Carolina Bauernhaus we believe that Beer is merely the vessel from which we serve our community. This month’s charity is one we helped found! Anderson Plays it Forward is a fundraising organization currently comprised of 21 area musicians each recording an original piece of music or a personally rearranged piece from public domain. All songs were recorded at Time Travelers Studio pro-bono courtesy of Anderson Plays it Forward Co-founder Mike Cannon. We believe that music and music mentorship should be accessible to everyone regardless of finances. The 21 musicians on this album have all looked to music for expressing creativity, engaging our minds, entertainment, careers, personal growth and spiritual connections. We firmly believe that music is an opportunity for everyone to grow, learn, heal, bridge social gaps and uplift our communities.

Bauernaroo is our inaugural fundraising event for Anderson Plays it Forward. Several musicians from the concept album will be performing sets of original music in our taproom from 2pm-10pm. All proceeds from music, 10% of sales, as well as donations, go directly to the project and will help finance the final leg of production including artwork and printing for the full length album to be released this spring. 100% of proceeds from the album sales will go into the Anderson Plays it Forward scholarship fund. The fund will be open to all area applicants to apply for financial assistance for music lessons or seeking music production mentorship.

We are all so excited for this cause, and can’t wait to share this project with our community.

Go ahead and mark your calendars to stay updated as we announce performers, food vendors and details about the event! This is a free event, and 10% of all sales during the event will be contributed to the Anderson Plays it Forward production costs.
